Re: kracked skulls setup
for a nonstop (think bike path) commuter I want to say the gummies or strikers, since once you get up to speed and start pumping you'll be able to go forever, but if it's stop and go, something smaller, like powerballs.
and get the scimmy, you'll need to with the bigger wheels.

Re: kracked skulls setup
ok well i've never ridden a scimitar, but i really like my m1. uh
m1 pro: cheaper
scimitar pro: can use any wheel size
you'll notice on the ordering page that only wheels as big as 72mm (with the exception of the strikers) can be used with the m1, due to wheel bite. although people say they ride noticeably different, they are pretty much the same basic construction/shape. it seems to me that the scimitar is an upgraded version of the m1. if you DO decide on an m1, i wouldn't recommend getting the 77mm strikers. the freerides or powerballs should be better. if you get a scimitar, the 83mm flywheels would feel great cruising (not to mention going over cracks and rocks and whatnot).
bearings...my advice is to skip them, go down to a skate shop and get some bones reds for $15. i'm sure the oust bearings are great, but it's not like you're racing or anything, bearings need to be replaced occasionally and bones are a good deal.
