New To Longboarding-looking for a board
I tried skateboarding many years ago but could never get the hang of it. Longboards have got me interested again. I'm looking for longboard for about 100 dollars. I've done some research and i'm not sure if its possible to get a decent board for that price.
I'm also pretty lost, ive checked out all kinds of beginner guides but really can't find a consistant answer.I want a board for commuting, not that long really but long enough that its stable when bombing the occasional hill. I live in the suburbs, so hills arent that steep, but I want a reasonable amount of control over my board, so I want it to be able to have a reasonable turning radias.
As you can tell, I'm pretty lost, any guidance is much appreciated. My budget is pretty tight and I cant spend much more than 100. I Live in the Brampton so buying a board from a shop in toronto is a possibility for me. I've done some research but everything seems to be really expensive.
I found this board on kijiji. I dont really know what i'm looking at here but it seems to sound okay and only 89 dollars. Does anyone have any suggestions of where I can look for a board in Toronto, Online, "with low shippnig cost," or if this boards any good?
Thanks,

Re: New To Longboarding-looking for a board
if i were you i would save up to at least 150 dollars, you will be much happier and getting 50 dollars isnt as hard as you may think, ask a bunch of your friends for 10 dollars, do some yardwork for neighbor, wait for your next paycheck, etc.
if you take that advice, look into a sector 9 bombhills, randal RII 180's, and lemon zigzags
or kracked skulls M1, same setup as the last
or earthwing supercharger, maybe, paris, and flashbacks

that extra $50 will make a HUGE difference. Or get a nice used board off the classifieds, ebay, or craigslist. (check back with us before you get a craigslist or ebay board, there's a whole lot of POS boards out there.)

Go to a store that sells S9s and stand on every single one of them. Then tell us what you liked/disliked about each one (length, flex, concave, etc.) and we'll try to search our knowledge database for the board that matches those best for you.

best advice is to go to as many places that sell longboards and try them out. Stand on them, move around, check out the concave/flex/camber if it has any. Talk to the people there, more often than not, they know what they are talking about so they can help you out alot. ALSO!! dont forget to do some research. go on the 'fish and look around for board reviews and threads that talk about boards for newbies. They can be a big help to someone who doesnt know what or how to buy a decent first board. Find out what you might like to do on a board (cruise, slide, carve, downhill) and research what boards fit your needs best. If you can actually try out some boards and ride them while you are researching them, all the better. Dont be lazy and resort to just picking any old board you find. Do some work & research, and trust me, you'll be so stoked when you take that first ride on the perfect board for you, instead of kicking yourself in the ass b/c you a got a board that you dont like. Hope this helps, bro.

Re: New To Longboarding-looking for a board
The best board I can think of is the Sector 9 Pipeline. In my opinion, it is the best board they offer. Avoid KS, they aren't that amazing and I found myself extremely limited on one after 3 months.
S9 Pipeline
Paris 180 trucks
Bones Reds bearings
Zig Zags *whatever color or duro you wish* or Orangatang 4Prez.
You'd now have a board that will get you set in the world of boarding, at least at a cruiser level. Don't take my setup as the one you want to get for sure. It's all about you and what disciplines interest you the most. Definitely check out local shops to see what they have, but I can assure you that it's easy to feel comfortable on the Pipeline as a beginner. My friend recently got one and he's at least twice as good as he was before, and he's fairly new and only borrowed my board. Just search around on the 'Fish for tips and see what's good, have fun!
