Default Looking at getting a new board

I have been riding a path 37 for a while and want a new board. I'm looking at a never summer heist or rayne hellcat. I'm 5'11 and weigh about 130. I mostly cruise but there are some big hills nereby that i want to try bombing. I'm also learning to slide and do manuals and shov-its.

very different boards. dont go just by shape; the heist has flex the hellcat does not. between those two the hellcat is the obvious choice for bombing.

I'm not going by the shape. I've read up on both and they both sound good to me. I'm just looking for input from people who have ridden them. A pro con thing

No, its a different board on the site. Just finished up reshaping it to look like it does in the pics in this thread! If you purchase off the site you will get the board shown in this thread. <----Someone is lazy and needs to update the site, maybe tonight....

Anyway, I can comment on the Heist as I have been in other threads.
I enjoy the board. I weigh about 140lbs and I can bottom it out with a good, a bit forceful, jump, so I wouldn't say that it's an easy board to bottom out, but I wouldn't say that it's very difficult to bottom out. I like the flex, I'd say it feels pretty good and springy.
It's responsive and good for carving.

I don't really do any DH, so the flexy/responsive/carvy nature of the board may not be so good for that, but you can always tighten up the trucks.

A bit of a warning on those nosemanuals and shovits. They are definitely possible on the Heist, I'm working on getting them more solid currently, BUT because the nose and tail of the board are small, doing those tricks can be a bit tricky because of foot bite (foot touching one of the wheels).
So if you've learned those tricks on another deck and get the general gist of it, transferring that knowledge and applying it on the Heist isn't too bad. The actual act of learning] those tricks from scratch, on the other hand, may be more challenging on the Heist. So if you have big feet, it's something to keep in my mind.

So the heist might not be good for dh and manuals but what about the hellcat? And the eel looks pretty cool. How is it on dh and slides?

The comet fsm looks cool but getting it with the setup I want is a little pricey. I don't want to go very far over $200
btw does anyone want to buy an original path 37 with s8's?

What you can do on the fsm you can do on the Eel, the Eel will just have better flex! IMO

It slides awesome with the new drop thru mounting and the beautiful concave!! Depending on your weight/skill level you can ride it 40mph!

fixed for you. your board is in a different class. the fsm is designed to have very little flex, so calling yours better flex is a little low.

OP, keith has a point the fsm will do everything. the saggy old protoype alpha06 let me ride back in april was still stable past 30 even though it was completely thrashed.

So I'm thinking I will probably buy the eel, the only problem is that I can't get the setup I want. Do any of the sites like daddies or stoked sell the eel?
