    Default Vanguard Flex 5

Greetings. I currently own a dervish flex 1 but after top-mounting it for a few days I'm considering investing in a vanguard. I'm 138 lbs so inside the recommended weight for the flex 4 but the possibility of a flex 5 is there also. I'm having abit of trouble with stand-up slides (heels in particular) and am starting to get the hang of pumping and I heard the vanguard is sweet for this. Currently rolling on paris 180's with red venoms and 77mm/84a strikers.
Will the flex 5 prove ridiculous or will I still be able to pump and slide? I'm on the verge of buying the flex 4 but I want to put my mind to rest.
    Thanks in advance.

Whoa! The Flex 5 would be craaaazy. I rode my friends Flex 4 Vanny, and it was already pretty flexy, and I'm only 120lbs. I think you should probably get the Flex 3 if you are thinking of pumping, carving, and sliding. Flex 5 would definitley bottom out if you just stood on it.

i have the flex 4 and im 120 and it is pretty flexy. i would say either the flex 4 or 3 would be good. flex 4 for a flexier board and more pop and flex 3 for a firmer but still flexy board. don't go for the flex 5. you are 40 lbs over anyone i know who has that flex. hope this helps

    I have a flex 4 at 140lbs and it's almost too flexy.

Well I'm 185, but I can tolerate the flex 4 without bottoming out right away, however I enjoy alot of flex on the Vanguard. On the other hand, I use a flex 1 Derv for sliding, dancing, and tiger claw. I just use flex 4 Vanny for mellow pump and cruise sessions. So...if you do much other than cruise go flex 3.

My Flex 4 Vanny was ridden all summer. It's saggy. Get at least one flex below what they recommend, i.e. get a 1 if they say you're a 2.

If your 138 and running 90a Venoms, try yellow 85a or Orange 81a. That will get you carving harder to slide easier. I went from 93a to 85a and my Dervish was a completely different board for the better. It's a cheap thing to try Vs. getting a new board.
