Pumping.....

Is a 38inch Arbor Koa pumpable. Its riding on 9in alpine gullwings with 70mm abec 11 grippins with Bones reds. Heres a link-

You're going to have a hell of a time pumping that thing dude, the problem is the trucks. If you want to pump it, you're going to need some new bushings, I recommend Khiro oranges in front, and blues in back.

Wedged risers would be a huge help too, wedge the front +10, and dewedge the back -15 to 20. I use the Khiro Riser Rails kit.

Pumping reverse kingpin trucks efficiently is an uphill battle my friend. As for learning to pump, there are many other threads and tutorials on that, so I'd search it.

oh, i dunno... i learned to pump on my randal 180s. if anything, it just makes you better once you find yourself on "pumping" trucks. i mean... not that alpines are ideal or cool or whatever (and CERTAINLY better bushings, wedging/de-wedging, etc. are all Very Good Ideas) but i'm a firm believer in learning on what you got, then moving on to specialized gear.

You can pump all kinds of setups. I have an Arbor Fleetwood with stock 180 Randals with a Khiro soft wedge in the front. I can pump that thing all over a level surface and up some mild inclines. Other setups are definitely easier to learn on and would be more efficient. Good bushing help a lot as well. Watch the videos on Pavedwave.org and keep trying. You feel like a dork and look like a perv but eventually you'll start getting it. There is also a good pumping how-to article on this site under Longboarding 101:

The bushings are the soft rubbery cushions in the center/between the metal parts of your trucks. You can get them in a bunch of different shapes and hardnesses.
