Default Hamboard with a Kahuna Big stick or a waste?

I have a drop-thru Downhill stiff board (clutch blackbird), and a fun flexy pintail top mount 42" cruiser. I am considering getting a Hamboard for a different kind of fun, but also want a good board to play with my new Kahuna Big Stick. Will the Big Stick be a good fit with the Hamboard or is it too big of a board to do long distance Big Sticking with? I can use the Big Stick with the Pintail board, but I really want to make the cost of the Hamboard worth while and If I can use the Big Stick easily with that Hamboard that would put me over the edge and I'll buy it. I also see the Jam boards, but figured they were to much like my 42" pintail to make me buy it over the Hamboard.

    Thoughts?

Last time I was in Huntington Beach I saw Chris Chaput with that same set-up jammimg down the bike path. Seemed to work for him.

I have a 60" tanker with Crails & 90mm Flys that's a lot like a Hamboard. Works awesome with the pole. Do it.

I can't imagine it matters how much heavier the board is much when you weigh 220lbs. I have to push my fat butt around anyway. I was more wondering if a narrower and/or shorter board is better for pushing with the Big Stick long distance.

I'm hoping to help reduce my weight using the Big Stick on some flat bike paths and around town while having some fun (I hate running, walking, and biking). Maybe even start a new exercise trend here in the middle of nowhere PA I know I will get some attention on the Hamboard or really any board using the Big Stick.

What's a "tanker"? I'm not familiar with it since I'm newer to longboarding.

It's an expression meaning "huge heavy board".

If you're in it for the excercise then I might recommend a smaller board. Alternating pumping and poling is a much better workout and it's easy to pump holding the pole, haha, maybe even throwing in the odd switch pushes. An LDP rig with a pole is a thing of greatness and wonder.

Hamboard and big stick for long distance is more work than fun. For a short distance and just plain fun its a great combo. I use the big stick with a drop deck and a ldp setup so you can have a different workout. One to push and one to pump.

    ^^what pureadrenalin said^^
I've got a Hamboard and it's the last thing I would ride for any real distance.
My Galac LDP gets lots of use for distance.
A drop deck and a Kahuna Big Stick would be a great combo.
    Good luck with your selection.

Agreed! A made a makeshift ghetto bigstick out of tape, a wheel, gorilla glue, and a stick and I can't really explain it but the stick actually helps me pump just like how sticks help people on tight ropes balance

Good info, I will give my drop through Clutch board a shot with the big stick for now. I'm expecting a 42" long pintail top mount by next weekend...I hope.

I'll wait on getting the "tanker" until I get a good idea how to use the Big Stick with the smaller boards for now.

    Thanks,

    mooney

Just wondering why the drop deck would be a great combo? All I ever see in the videos are folks riding the longer top mounts.

A drop deck is a good choice because the push advantage is great with a lowered deck. You take your feet of the deck the ground is right there no need to be reaching for the ground. The negative would be its stiff as hell and not flexy comfortable like a dervish or even a gbomb.

    Dropdeck +1

I use a Clutch Deeznutz and I found it a much better ride than my Arbor Blunt when using a Big Stick.

Send me your picks and videos or anything related to Land Paddling and I'll post it on Land Paddling Magazine - No Hills? No Problem!

Land Paddling Magazine....Great idea! There should be a Pumping magazine as well, but Pavedwave takes care of that.

Anyway, what trucks/wheels/bushings are you running on the Deeznutz? I just got one and want to use it as a land paddle board as well.

Tell me more about your plans for the magazine (PM if you like). I'm getting into somethings (land paddle wise) that may be of interest to you. I'd love to help make this a bigger sport and the mag will definitely help
