Default Element "The Cutter," any good?

I just started longboarding. I picked up a board by ELEMENT "The Cutter."
Again, I just started so I'm not sure about trucks, bearings, etc.

I have the specs listed below, am I better off swapping out parts, or should I just keep the board as is?

    Specs:
    # Trucks: Element 9.00"
    # Bearings: Element ABEC5
    # Wheels: Travel Well 70mm, 78du
    # Construction: Bamboo
    # Dimension: L: 43.50"; W: 9.75"

it doesnt seem like the greates board, element isnt none for longboards. i dont know it may be ok but it seems like something they are new in and it wouldnt be as good as more established companies in the longboard industry

Mile high mark seems to really like the element longboards. i've seen a few in person and they seemed like great construction, haven't ridden any though. i haven't ridden any of those components either, but find some friends that longboard and see if your equipment measures up (ride their boards). after awhile if your still into longboarding and think you need new stuff you can always swap out.

The deck is good. The trucks/wheels are OK. A little tuning (wedge risers, better bushings) will make it perform better. See:

Sounds like you are in the same boat I am. I mainly just picked up this for cruising like I did on my short board (a standard Element/Tom's collab deck with 61mm Ricta Clouds). I figured since all I do is cruise, why not get a more purpose built cruiser. I got a little taste of speed wobbles on a tiny hill when riding the 31" board and desided I need to upgrade.

I think this board is great for starting out and it's a beautiful board in itself.

I've never skated on any other longer board, so I really don't have anything to compare it to.

My impression is that this board is pretty heavy and I think the wheels may be the biggest downfall. Something just doesn't feel right about them.

I ordered some 66mm Ricta Clouds to put on it, so I'll see how that works out.

The box-stock Cutter could use some better trucks/wheels, which is exactly why I, myself, spec the components on our Cutter completes.

On the bright side, the deck is shaped by Chuck Hults. He's the man.

Yep, I saw that after the fact. I may be hitting you up for a set of those Gravity Burners and wedge risers soon.

This will be a good setup until I build up skill/confidence to move up to a more purpose built longboard.
