Default Time for a new board.

Okay, So i am looking for a board that is more suited for my college life. My Ed Economy is simply way too big to ride to classes. So i was looking for a board that

-is a decent size for taking to class
-Able to be used for LDP ( there is a paved trail that leads from here, to a larger city)
-Able to be used for a bigger guy 280 lbs
-Doesnt break the bank. (I am a college kid)

Thanks in advance for the help

I have one, and it's an awesome hybrid. It's nice and short for portability, but if you set it up with the right trucks, you have an awesome LDP setup that can wedge into a speed carver.
The deck and the bindings cost $150, which is a little pricey, but it's cheaper than most dedicated LDP setups you can get out there, but it has the added benefit of being ten times more versatile.

Another question. What makes a board good for LDP? Drop through better?

pavedwave.org is probably the best pumping resource around. Samhell's website, http://www.gtcpldp.com contains information regarding gear choices as well.

Just one man's opinion, but I am not sure I would do full-on LDP'ing on campus - it may look a bit strange to onlookers. How about a shallow concave 20in WB cruiser with a kicktail, try some Indy 149's with Bones Hard bushings, 66mm ZigZags; this set-up is kinda pumpable, but it also tic-tac's great for additional forward propulsion (I know, tic-tacing is probably as strange looking as LDP), prolly cost you about $120 total if you shop around on the internet. My Gravity Logan 36 is my favorite street cruiser, sidewalk surfer; and I do ollies, shove-its, and ramps on it also. The size is very managable, the board is surfy, stable, and cushy (although, it may sag too much for a 230lb guy, I am only 180lbs and it sags just right for my weight). You can go around 20mph safely on this set-up, its pretty sketchy above that.
