build my board...well, kinda
I know there are a lot of "whats the best..." threads out there already, but I'd appreciate your input anyway. Until recently, I hadn't been on my longboard for a long time...and this site for even longer probably.
There are just so many choices out there, equipment-wise, and I'm hoping if I tell you what I'm looking for, that you can make some recommendations.
I am currently riding an older Sector 9 (Nineball deck)...kicked nose and tail, with Revenge trucks and some big old tall Kryptonic wheels. I like the carviness of the Revenges (and the no-wheelbite), but the height bugs me a little. The concave of the S9 seems really shallow, and I'd dig something that cradles the foot more. I'd like to go with some wider, softer wheels that really hold a carve. I could really care less about "speed".
What I like to do is carve, surf-style. I also enjoy some carving. Did I mention carving? I'm in a hilly area of VA with lots of good terrain...good long hills, parking garages, etc.
I am really interested in, and was looking at, a Carveboard, but the whole inflatable tire-innertube thing seems too much like work. For the time being, I think I'll stick closer to what I know...skateboards. I've been looking pretty closely at things like Landyachtz Chinook and their urban assault hybrid (not sure if I could even still get my hands on the latter?). Dropthroughs and boards of that style are pretty foreign to me, but I am intrigued by the possibility. I am also considering something like a Skaterbuilt Groundhog (or similar) set up with some trucks that are geared toward carving. I want something super-sturdy, not flexy, etc. I've typed a lot now...please type back.

Re: build my board...well, kinda
If you love to carve look into Original trucks, they carve better than your Revenge trucks. Normally you end up with the tallness problem with them as well, since they ship with a 3/4" inch riser. With the Apex 37 and 34 they solved this problem with a routed area in the deck and these decks sit very low.
Out of curiosity, where in VA are you?
Different stokes for different folks.

Re: build my board...well, kinda
Is the 3/4 inch riser to prevent wheelbite? That's what I really like about the Revenge trucks...no wheel bite ever. I went to a friend's yardsale yesterday, and he gave me a set of (original) Originals... he didn't think anyone was going to want them.
I also have an email in to Scott at Subsonic about maybe making me a Swift. I think if I mount my Revenge trucks on the Swift, it might make for a good surfy carver. Maybe I'll slap the Originals on my Sector 9

there's a guy on this site who put originals on a legendary demonix. I'm trying to get ahold of him to skate.

Re: build my board...well, kinda
i currently ride a Landyachtz Chinook with lime big zigs, bear grizzly 852's, ceramic abec 7 bearings, and some khiro reds. and the board allows me to carve nice. plus its also a comfortable board to just push around wherever when cruising. when i was picking out my board i was also looking for a board with little flex. so if you did decide to go that way its deff a good board. good luck
