i can finally pump, but i still have a question
alright so today i made a trip to the hardware store and bought a wrench for my trucks to loosen them. i loosened the trucks all the way until i could turn the nut by hand, then i tightened the nut as much as i could by hand, and took the wrench and added probably 3/4ths of a turn. i ended up taking my board on flat ground and i managed to figure out how to pump on my first try. the only issue is my front foot ends up sliding forward and catching on the wheel sometimes. and i'm worried that the nut on my trucks is going to fall off...so are my trucks too loose? and if so should i shave my bushings down a little bit so i can tighten them properly? i have bear 852's and sabre green bottoms and purple tops if that helps

What kinda board are you riding? I pump around on my NS Heist, and just have to put my front foot a little further back so I don't hit the wheel with me foot.
Whatever you ride, just position your foot in a way that it wont hit the wheel. G'luck.

Home built BB Ceviche - Paris 150 - Stimulus

i ride a drop hammer, so the cutouts are what get me

Re: i can finally pump, but i still have a question
what you can do to stop your foot from sliding is get a bushing or something ,and mount it on top of the deck like in the
picture i posted the link to down there.
that should stop your foot from sliding up, although i dont think i understand your issue completely good luck.

first off, congrats on finding your pump quickly
so i take it you don't have many threads to work with out on the end of the bolt? a picture would be mucho helpful here... but if lack of threads is the case I'd see if you could remove the bottom washer, the one closest to the deck (if there is one now), which gives you a little more thread.
the other would be to try a slightly shorter bushing. you could shave one down, but you might also consider swapping to a slightly longer kingpin, just make sure its grade8 and not whatevers off the shelf at the hardware store.

make a foot stopper! Just place an old bushing on top of the board, and screw it in. Your foot will go nowhere.

I think bear kingpins are built into the baseplate

Re: i can finally pump, but i still have a question
if you dont feel comfortable with how loose your trucks are, just go ahead and get new(softer)bushings. that way you can tighten up your trucks and still have that quick turning that helps so much with pumping
60" drop thru dancer? absolutely!

didn't realize the bear pins are locked in but my guess is they have grooves to hold them in place? we tap out the stock bennett pins the same way.

for a simple, single-bushing toe stop:
get on your board and ride a while until you're in a comfortable pumping mode-- then look down at your feet. if your front foot is just behind an existing bolt hole, or at least close to it, then just use that bolt hole.
if not, then drill a new hole-- usually on the side of your shoe somewhere between your pinky toe and middle of foot... you'll figure out what works best. even better if you know anyone in slalom that already has one set up and you can try the concept out first.

Re: i can finally pump, but i still have a question
I'm rolling on a drop hammer, so the trucks act as a foot stopper. They are too far forward to stop my foot from hitting the wheel. After more practice, this doesn't happen to me as much. The nut seems to be fine the way it is. I've ridden it over some harsh ground (concrete paths with big cracks between blocks) and the nuts have yet to rattle out or loosen.

read a post somewhere that you shift your weight from your front foot to your back foot and at the same time swing your hips like you are using a holahoop. tried it today and it works. still trying to get the rhythm down but it did work. after all the post read on this topic this one gave the info with clarity .
