First board
Well, lately I've gotten really interested in longboarding and I'd like to buy one. I'd use it for getting around on campus some but mostly I want to cruise around and carve some mellow hills, so nothing too crazy. I've read and learned alot from this site but it seems like most of the first board advice depends on the specific situation.
I've tried to narrow it down some based on price and what I think would be good size and such. The three I'm looking at right now are:
Original Path 37 with S8's and 65mm 78a kryptonics Path 37 Longboard
Gravity Diamond Tail 35 with Randal 150's and 66mm 80a wheels GRAVITY SKATEBOARDS | DIAMOND TAIL 35
and
TLS 40" Basic Complete with Randal 150's and System Martin 70mm 78a wheels TLS – 40" Basic Orange Complete : The Longboard Store
(Either this one or the 35", I haven't really decided)
What do you guys think of those three? Do you have any other suggestions with a comparable price. Right now $200 is pushing it for a first board so about 150-170 range is ideal.
Thanks ahead of time for any advise and suggestions.
Jake

Re: First board
Am I wrong in thinking the 3 I posted fit my needs well? The superglider looks pretty good but how does it compare to the path or the diamond tail since its more expensive?
Just trying to get a feel for how they stack up against each other and the kind of riding I want to do.

Re: First board
Sorry for the double post but I've narrowed it down even further to either the Original Path 37 or the Superglider 38. Convince me one way or the other.

Re: First board
you will not be dissapointed with the earthwing
i just cut my supercharger to about the size of the glider and its awesome with indys and some 4pres
go for the superglider

Re: First board
My personal choice would be for the earthwing superglider due to how enjoyable the ride is for be. great for cruising and general carving. In addition original trucks are a hit or miss. Some people love them and some people hate them. If you were to buy the Earthwing I would suggest Sundae Skates actually since the price would be quite cheaper then DBS with free shipping still. Earthwing Wider Glider Complete. Also an ideal set up would be indy 169's with about a 66mm wheel.

Re: First board
Ok so two for the earthwing and the more I look the more I like it. After picking everything out on the sundae skates site it came out to the same price as DBS but with better wheels (66mm zigzags) and a second set of bushings. Sundae skates doesn't have the earthwing in stock right now though.
Why Indys over randals?

Re: First board
they are way lower and imo feel better on that board

Re: First board
If you do end up with the Indy's know that the stock KP won't fit the bushings which sundae skates offers. You would need bones hardcore all around or on top ( street side) with a venom barrel on bottom.

Re: First board
The fact that they are so much lower means I have to use smaller wheels, hence the suggested 66mm, right? What does a smaller wheel imply performance wise? Any suggestions on where to get the bones hardcore bushings cheapest? If the kingpin is too short couldn't I just cut down one of the bushings untill it fit? Correct me if this is a stupid idea...

super glider
paris 180's
abec 11 gumballs
relatively cheap but a great setup
I have original trucks and I love them, but theyre difficult to use, so they wouldnt be good for a first board

Re: First board
KrackedSkulls.com (This doesn't seem like the rest of your boards but it's something to consider)
I can't vouch for them because I've never actually owned one of these boards, but they are very cheap, you can get great wheel setups, and come with Randals which is a big plus. They're extremely low to make pushing easier. I think they also have some slight flex, and you can also choose the length that you want.
There are also 5% discount codes floating around on the fish. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it also comes with free shipping.
Just don't get the grip that comes on it. Apply your own. The grip they put on their looks like it doesn't do a very good job and also wears down quickly.
My friend that just started longboarding got his TLS yesterday and loves it. Funny thing is, his name is Jake too. But its a great board and a bit on the flexy side. It feels nice the way it comes and you can't go wrong with it for your first board. I think it was the 40" yellow complete. It's really light, but it doesn't seem like it can handle all the falls and crashes one takes with their first board. Just not good enough quality IMO compared to what you can get for the same price, or less.

Re: First board
Thanks for all the input guys, definitely going for the superglider. I just have to wait for Sundae skates to get it in stock.
