Re: What is CARVING to you?
well this may just be me but I try to re-create all my favorite moves on a surfboard and try to power through them on my longboard. I make like these cool cutbacks and turns... pretty fun if you ask me.

Re: What is CARVING to you?
Maybe I read through this too fast.
For me, it's more the setup, not the deck. Because I'm not sliding and dh, I generally like everything to be easy to turn and have the smallest turn radius possible without bite at slow speeds.
60" to 30" and less, and every shape and form. Trucks, bushings, wheels and risers as needed let me carve curb to curb with some circles along the way.
Just tinker with the bushings and wheels on your current deck and you can have some carving pleasure.
If the shoe fits...

Re: What is CARVING to you?
Universally, Carving is some form of turning and not sliding. To the DH people, carving would be a speed controller to slow down. To flatland surfers, its basically is kinda like a surfing style making those nice sweet turns around. Just look at a OriginalSkateboards video.....yeah thatwould be considered carving lol =)
