Re: Cross-Stepping Truck Input:::????
ive used indys holeys and seismics
i would advise NOT to use torsion based (revenges) or originals for boardwalking

Re: Cross-Stepping Truck Input:::????
i've tried both randals and seismics; it's hard to pick a clear winner, i like them both for different reasons, but right now i'm rockin' the seismics on my dancer. they work great!

Re: Cross-Stepping Truck Input:::????
Thanks for the help guys!
So I take it, I don't want to use loose carving trucks for dancing. Seismics are already on my list of trucks I want to own. If I used Seismics, would I want them to be set up differently than if I was using them for carving. I tried cross stepping with my Revenges, and it's just way to unstable for me to do it, I feel like I'm going to fall hard, so I chicken out.
So Randalls would be OK too? Would I want them setup differently than Randalls for carving?
For now I've switched to my Gullwing Mission 1's, with Khiro blue bushings top and bottom, seems to be a lot more stable, I'm sure they would probobly work fine, but I like to leave them on my Dregs Maggie with white Khiros, to be super carvy.
What about wheels? Would my Gumballs be the way to go, or my Dregs Labeda 70mm 78a's be better. Does wheelsize have much effect on making a good dance board?
Thanks for the help!

Re: Cross-Stepping Truck Input:::????
well you're gonna feel like bailing at first no matter what you do! rider stability only comes with more practice
as for wheels, i'd go for something in a 70mm. flashbacks, grippins etc.
i'm using 76mm gumballs on mine right now, but as soon as my grippins arrive, they'll be going straight on!
with a 70mm wheel you won't need risers or anything to avoid bite. i'm 200 lbs with a fairly flexy board equipped with seismics (yellow springs) and 76mm gummies, and i get zero bite, no matter hard i try. and believe me, i've tried!
a smaller wheel might even have an effect on your subconscious as well. if you're worried about falling alot, then just think of this..."well hell, it's only a 70mm wheel, that means if i fall....i'm only falling a couple inches higher than my own height!!". if that's an issue for you, then go ahead and use that to help you sleep better at night
truck tightness is personal preference. me, personally, i like them to be fairly tight; i don't like a whole lot of movement under me when i'm rockin' out on the dancer. randal 180s will be perfectly fine. i even used 150s on mine before i bought the seismic 180s and it was still just peachy keen by me.
just like with everything else skateboard related, it all comes down to personal preference. you could ask 10 different "danceboarders" what their idea setup would be, and you'd get 10 different answers. experiment with different componants and figure out what works best for you!

Re: Cross-Stepping Truck Input:::????
Randall R2 180s with 70mm Kryptonics on a totally flat board with cutouts.
I have the Randalls rather loose, because you can really carve while crossstepping but if you just want to go straigth ahead for beginning they are still stiffer than the Revenges.
Indys are also perfectly suitable.
Bigger (not tooooo big) wheels give more security, because the worst thing that can happen while crosstepping slowly is that your wheels suddendly hit a pebble or so.

Re: Cross-Stepping Truck Input:::????
Yeah I love the Randal 180's on mine. At first having tighter trucks helps to learn, so that you have the confidence. But as soon as you have the ability to cross step without being sketched out, loosen your trucks to your regular cruising feel. You'll learn to walk in the middle of the board, and keeping it straight won't be much of a problem. This will allow you to carve tightly while cross stepping, and that feels amazing.
My 46" board has Gullwing Mission trucks, and my 59" dancer with Randals can outturn it. You won't go wrong with those or Seismics, but I feel Randals are a lot easier to make adjustments on (as all you have to worry about are bushings and kingpin, and the stock bushings feel good).

Re: Cross-Stepping Truck Input:::????
Once yoiu get good at it,. you can do it on any truck. I have Original S10's, Revenges, Randall 180's, Gullwings, Exkates and Dart 184 on different longboards. you can do it on any of them, but I like the Darts the best all around.

Re: Cross-Stepping Truck Input:::????
ska1234,
Originals are on my list of trucks to buy in the near future. So do they work well, if you tighten them up? Can you get them pretty stable and stiff? I've only tried Originals for a brief moment, and I have no experience with them yet..
I want a set of Randalls as well, but I'm debating which trucks to buy, Seismics are on that list as well, but I'll wait a while for those. Originals would be really nice, especially if I can use them for carving as well as dancing, that's all I want out of my trucks at this point, I'm too old and battered to go be aggro in the bowls anymore. I think I'll go buy a plank of solid oak tomorrow and cut out a simple 60 inch dancer, after I go buy some trucks....
Thanks guys!

Re: Cross-Stepping Truck Input:::????
when in doubt, get both. they won't go to waste if you plan on owning more than one board at a time

Re: Cross-Stepping Truck Input:::????
The S6's on a 33" board with flex will not handle speed above 25. (That's the way I have it set up) If you get a 60"er with the S10s, it may change the ride up.
You can get the trucks so tight, they barely turn, but when they do, they turn quick. There is an intential deadspot in the middle, so when they're cranked down, you have to pull hard to get out of the deadspot, and when you do, it pulls out hard.

Re: Cross-Stepping Truck Input:::????
200 would be pretty sizable. 180s are just fine...
