Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
just amazing as always. ive only had my first longboard for 3 days and im having so much fun with it. its a loaded vanguard with randalls and gumballs. im still amazed how it rides everytime i step onto it. im getting the basics down, taking it everywhere i go. i dont mind the looks i get either, im probably the only person in my town who has a longboard. well not anymore, i convinced a friend to buy my arbor fish which i also ordered to try it out. so tomorrow were gonna tear up some local hills togehter. i cant wait!

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
today i learned a bunch of sliding things from the slide help video adam was so kind to make. i was having a sick time untill i accidentally did a safety slide that whent over a pot hole and i felt something hit my arm. i thaught it was a rock at first but then i noticed that a chunck was missing outta my wheel the size of a quarter...tunnel rocks are not for sliding. ANywho ya couldnt piss me off 2day cuz it was just one of thoose awesomeness on top of awesomness with a cramy awesomeness center that pirateswin described in another thread.
i also stopped at a country club to tell my sister she needed to start walking home. i checked my board at the door but kept my slide gloves on and as i was walking thru some construction worker yelled at me to get back to work...i assume it was cuz my slide gloves are the hefty working gloves. i just gave the man a funny look and skipped away.

m60 yeah they did. I hate that also, it just annoys me a lot for some reason.
As for today:
Hmmm todays ride was sub par. Standard cruising with moderate wind speed, high humidity and sunny sky's with temperatures in the mid 80's. Traffic was moderate today, with a near accident involving dihl syndrome (deer in head lights) locals. And now back to your standard programming.
Jibe, thats classic. "Get back to work" haha
I would have yelled back: "Hey man I quit two weeks ago!"

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
my ride was pretty awesome. Went to alki for the dragon fly jam and tried some new boards including LBL dancer which im totally about to purchase.. i met longboard larry and then skated about 4 times up and down alki with some buds. Then rode to greenlake did about 3.5 laps and called it a day. rode about 20miles today :P it was awesome cuz im getting really good at footbraking and i love doing it behind unsuspecting walkers cuz its so loud lol. they get freaked out espessially at greenlake when its dark and you got sand and gravel under your shoe!
oh yeah i let this chick ride my board and she rode it through a baseball diamond that was all sand.. i was like uhh why did you just do that? so after she f-ed it i was like what the hell and started doing some stand up slides in the dirt it was awesome. end of story my back bearings are loud and needa be replaced

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Well yesterday was my first real ride in a week (I rode oncee in a parking lot and in front of a friend's house but those were just short little putt arounds) since I had a nasty biff last Sunday going down a hill. Me and my buddy rode around Whyte, a bike trail and around the U of A campus before making our way to the Heritage Festival in which we had to carry our boards around. Got some odd looks as well as some "Ohhh those skateboards are huge" or "Why is that board pointy?".
On the way out we rode part of the parking lot out of Hawrelak Park before the stairs that went up a hill. There were two cops who were on break. So me and Josh decided to go talk to them. The cops were complimenting our boards and thought that they were pretty sweet. One cop asked how fast they went. Josh said "Before you die?" Everyone had a chuckle and I responded with "Depends on the hill but it's possible to do 50". Some more small chit chat about other things and then I asked about rumors on riding boards on Whyte. We were told that it's technically illegal to ride on the street and sidewalks anywhere and that the only legal place to ride is at a skatepark. Then he went on to say that they're generally stricter on Whyte because there're might be 500 people in the span of two hundred meters whereas some residential there might only be one or two people who you could accidentally run over.
Then he went on to say that unless they see you as a risk and are causing trouble they're not going to bother because they've got more important things to look out for on Whyte like purse snatchers, aggressive panhandlers and people fighting. Yaddi yadda they said we looked like decent people so we shouldn't have much to worry about but If someone did write up a ticket, don't be shocked because it's technically illegal to ride skateboards around town. Josh was like "This is a skateboard?" "Errr...yeah" "I guess so since it's a plank with wheels". We wished each other a good day and then made our way uphill. Once we got to the top we hopped back out on our boards and rode back towards Whyte when it started to drizzle. Rode to Remedy to get shelter, food and chai lattes. I'd say it was a good day. Felt really good to be out there riding around again.

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
I spent some of this evening learning cross step, pivot stand up slides with the Ninja Master Colton. I swear that man is a machine.
Left, Down, Square = *POW!* Backside Powerslide Shov-it
He has a controller in his pocket, i saw him do it.
So today was a good day, we're off to skate mini ramps in south england tomorrow, should be a laugh.
Oh and we're back from Europe 6 weeks earlier than planned. Long story.........

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Here's my skating story for the day: so I rode a full 3 hours or so today after work. An hour and a 1/2 at an empty uncovered basketball court under the blistering sun. Came home, hydrated and chilled for like an hour. Went back out to my fav. parkinglot spot behind my house for like 30min. chased and followed by my neighbor's dog Ruffles I like to call Pringle. Come back home again to chill like 15min. Go back out to the same spot and spend a good hour and a 1/2 cross steppin, and carvin along, just workin it.
By this time I'm pretty beat, so I finally decide to roll down the driveway into the sidewalk, and push my way back home, and this driveway's got a pretty good slope. I'm so beat and I cant hold the tuck, jump up and off the board while its still rolling into the street headed straight for the curb. So I run up to catch it with my foot, but that doesnt work. Just then I'm thinking it would suck if a car comes down the street, and sure enuff here comes one. I hussle to catch up to the board, grabb it and swing around towards the sidewalk. There's a patch of grass along the curb so I think, ok, I'll just drop the board on the grass and run into the sidewalk. But my legs just dont wanna move anymore. I jump into the grass, drop the board down, right then my legs refuse to take any steps forward and I'm already running too fast. My knee drops into the grass, and I just spin in the air rotating to my back and land flat on the grass, my leggs hanging off the curb. I just lay there catching my breath, laughing and looking up as the car drove by.
It was the stupidest fall I've ever had, and yet it made me feel so good. My knee's a little red now but that's about it, I didnt get cut or hurt at all. It was so much fun, knowing I avoided a bad situation in my extreme fatigue. Somehow I saved my board and my body and now I'm home feelin very satisfied, very weak, and very silly. How I cherish moments like this!

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
It was a good day, quite refreshing after a not so good day yesterday. Woke up early, went to a dentist appointment... or so I thought, that I had apparently scheduled for tomorrow... then drove home quite confused, but my mouth was comfortable. Got home and prepared to wait for my telephone appointment to come in which I would register for my classes next year. While browsing the internet, I saw that Reel Big Fish had a new album out... so I got to bestbuy as quickly as possible, being sure to get home by 11:40. Got home in time, checked ups, found out that my Drop Carve had been delivered to my Grandmas house... Right near bestbuy... sprinted back over there, same commute as before, grabbed the board and got home, prepared to set the lovely little guy up. In the middle of the process, my College called 5 minutes early, got all my classes in a couple minutes, set up my drop carve completely, and went out for a nice ride. Much different than my dervish, I find pumping to be alot easier. Great board, relaxing feel. Then eventually I ended up at my dads, with some fun hills to experiment with, and learned that I love that board! Pretty good day I'd say

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
today i got to test out my Paris trucks on some real hills as well as the top of the Warner Bros. parking lot lol. but i must say they are effin awesome. they were even better after i swapped out a chipped axle washer that was rattling around. now i just gotta buy some bones Reds so i can finally try it out with my retro 70s zigzags. the anticipation is killing me. on a minor note....i nearly skated into a car that went through the middle of some speed bumps and into the lane i was turning into. after which the guy proceeded to slow down and yell at me of all things. so i said to him "no hablo ingles cabron" and skated off. fun stuff!
