skated tioga and continental when the sun came up (short MP run), tunnel in the rain, and did some cornering on my new o-tangs.
it was a good day.

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Had a GREAT afternoon and evening skating around town! Couple little hills to bomb around on, nice streets, friendly drivers and pedestrians... and the best part it got up to almost 70 degrees and sunny!!! I thought it was going to rain but it cleared completely up and was amazing. There was actually a lots of other people out skating today. Talked to a couple kids who were filming some ollies over a grass gap. They asked me how I stop on my Evo so I showed them how to foot brake but couldn't get them to try it. "I'll fall and bust my *** if I try that" one of them said. Watched them for a while then decided to try to go UP the gap from the street to the parking lot with success - the kids thought it was cool, lol. Invited them to come cruise around with me and my brother but they decided to stick to filming the ollies.
Practiced a little drifting today on some 90 degree turns (intersection) and a big, steep banked parking lot. Getting the hang of it more and it was nice to get some clean ones in. Got a MASSIVE save today. Was bombing a small hill around 20mph or so (no big deal) and hit something in the road (ironically the same cruddy street I screwed myself up on last August, same scenario!!) and it whipped my board sideways really hard and broke traction in a sort of accidental stand-up slide but I reacted and controlled it enough to pull it straight again and keep going down the hill. What a rush! Couldn't believe I saved that, was a close call for sure! I was wearing my helmet and slide gloves the entire time today this time though.
We skated until it got dark, and my legs are absolutely worked for this weekend. Wonderful weekend!

you got scared, thats the problem. when you tense up you get wobbles. just stay loose and reeelax. wobbles are all in your head.

Another awesome day. Perfect tempature at 70* and sunny. Skated for awhile then switched my S9 Rf's for my 66mm 88a strikers and pulled huge pendys on my nemesis. Oh and I got my first good predrift down.

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
its been in the high 60s during the day all weekend. cruised around auburn's campus (and had to deal with some dick security) with some friends on saturday then came home and on sunday went out on my campus, even saw a couple cops while hitting the streets. One gave an angry pointed finger but other than that they left us alone, i guess they finally figured out we don't cause problems (only 4 longboarders in town)

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
OMG! It was 60 degrees and I took my girlfriend out to practice. She's new at it and has been taking it slow but damn! She went from barely standing on the thing to riding with general confidence. I'm so proud of her. She actually asked me to buy her a board. I can't wait till she's good enough for us to ride together.

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Friday and Saturday were completely off days for me.
Friday, I couldn't get a single slide down. I kept ending up turning sharply and losing my board. One time, I was trying a coleman when my board did one giant hop 180 degrees. Creepy.
Saturday morning, I kept losing my balance and waving my arms like a madman to stay on my board. I blamed it on having just woken up, but after half an hour I really had no excuse. I had trouble balancing on my board the day before as well.
It's a lot easier for me to pump if I look down at my board as I do it, and this caused some troubles for me Saturday morning. I hit one of those blue reflectors in the road that mark fire hydrants, and I nearly fell off. I almost regained my balance, but not before hitting a speed bump! Did a few hops, and then fell over. I felt stupid after that.

Here's is a practicle answer, you can greatly prevent speed wobbles by keeping pressure on your bushings. The best way to do that while you are in motion is to carve. It does not have to be a lot, but just keep "on an edge", like in snowboarding. If you don't snowboard, then just make small carves back in forth until you slow down.

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Yesterday I got to skate Salt Lake City airport a bit. Only rode maybe 100 - 150 yards, but it was smooth linoleum or such and just cruising past all the walking people was great. One guy going the other way on a moving walk way muttered under his breath, "wow, that's cool". It was.
It looks like that might be the only skating I get in this town, as it snowed last night. No one can tell me where an indoor skate park is here either, and I have not found one searching the net.

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Oh my god todays ride set the stage for this years untire season, me and my friend were hill hunting and after a few lame ducks we crest a hill and holey F###ing hell there is a massive curving hill stretching out of sight. like any dedicated hill hunters we keep driving and the hill keeps stretching ahead of us. we start seeing road signs that we usually only see in our dreams, we see ninty degree turn signs we see curvey road ahead signs we see the light at the end of the boring hill tunnel. this hill continues for a mile, it peaks and them plummets downwards and it continues downwards on and off for the next three miles. we have found the longboarding mecca of the east coast,,,,,,, i'm going back tommorow.

i havent gone riding in months. winter is lame for that.
what with the snow and slush, and angry snow folk.
BUT. in the summer, its beatiful. with a huge river valley just out my backyard.
and beautiful pavement and just skating for hours on end.
its excellent. and im excited for the snow to melt.

o boy o boy yesterdays ride was prime, i brought along my brother on my favorite 5mile loop, it was his first "real" longboard ride, (other then just driveway surfing) he loved it, and the weather couldent of been better 40F
