Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Spent today riding some hills at Hines Park. Along the way, got a little sore in the ankle from a funky push on gravel so I sat on this half-submerged picnic bench pushed into the lake. When I got up to leave, there was this older guy standing there with his dog. He thought I was fishing, but when he saw the board he started asking questions about it, how much it cost, what it was made of, how fast, etc. He then proceeded to just talk for the next hour. I didn't stop him. I didn't want to. He told me about his life, the things he did, the way things used to be, the things he had figured out about life in general. It was really...cool. 86 years old and still walking the dog twice a day.
I hope I get to do something like that when I'm his age, just corner some youngster and tell him or her about my life and have them listen.

Skogging is one way for old guys to keep skating and stay in shape. At 55, I'm enjoying the ride of my life! Legs stay in good shape when you skog!

cool story. going for a skog or a skate in the park, you are potentially setting yourself up for meeting people! I've met tons of people riding my deck thru the parks and beach. Sharing your life stories is part of life and meeting strangers and hitting it off is an experience that adds wisdom to your life!
Nice post!

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Been doing the same run for the past 3 days. Its just a every so slightly curved road that has a nice incline on it. Then I've been going to a parking lot that has a hairpin that goes uphill on the end. Ive been working on cornering, which i have down toeside but not heelside as much. I'm having a problem with were my knees go. Oh, and while i was doing the usual run, some lady walking with her friend shouted something that sounded like "Speed bump", and then right after her some guy yelled "Be Careful." All in all really good rides this week.

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
I had a pretty nice ride today, I'm on vacation in Hilton Head Island, SC and I have to say it's nice to have some place new to skate. Being the beach, everything is completely flat so this morning I skated for close to 4 miles on the golf cart paths around the resort and down to the beach. I got a few runs in at a sweet 7 level parking structure in Savanah, GA last night before security asked me to leave. It's midnight now and I'm about to go to some of the garages I scoped out earlier by the hotels on the beach.
NAKED SKATE '09 IS COMING SOON!

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Skated about 14 miles up and down the coastal trail with some buddies.
Was almost trampled by a moose on the way back.
Got home at around midnight, but it was fine, because the sun doesn't set until like 12:30 over here.
Oh, and I also managed to collide with my friend.
I was the only one with scrapes. Like always.

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Hit up Lake Calhoun (Minneapolis) this morning. Afternoons get too crowded. I think it's about 3 miles so it was a nice ride. It hadn't hit 70 degrees when I was out there so it was nice and cool and sunny. Perfect weather. I'm still learning so there were a couple flailing arm moments that brought attention my way...

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
I started out doing some neighborhood cruising and stand up slides, and then I did some highway skating with my buddy. After that we drove to a pretty fun hill and I went the fastest I've ever gone (I think it was only like 35 mph, I haven't been skating too long,) and we were pretty stoked. Then I went home and broke my elbow while doing stand up slides in my driveway. After 4 hours in the ER, they told me I can't skate for a month. Sigh.... but a pretty solid day until the break.

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Lost control of my board twice, first time decided to run off cause I'm a moron and there was a care coming around the corner. Second time i was taking the corner but was way to far back for some reason and slide on my ass and had to run after my board. Both times it hit theses big rocks on someones driveway. Got really lucky it didnt hit their garage door. Was working on my slides though and that was decently fun. Then went and did a speed run 3 times. The last time i was to far forward on my board in a tuck, and i couldnt steer right so that was sketchy cause i was getting wobbly and I had to stick my arm out and lean hard to steer. Gotta go make a bumper now cause i dont want the nose of my board to take more hits.
Overall, not the best day of the week but i was shown a new slide spot thats really close to my house so thats good.

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Feels good to finally post on this thread, been lurking on it for quite some time now.
I bought my sector 9 Kommi yesterday at Cowtown and love it. I tightened it a bit when I bought it so it's not super loose, but I'm just so amazed on how smooth it is. It's so cool how far just one or two kicks will take you opposed to on a skateboard.
I bought it and went over to my friend's house and started off, was kind of surprised how fast the wheels got dirty haha. I don't think I'm supposed to keep those clean, am I o.O?
The beggining of the day wasn't as amazing as it could, I'm in Arizona and it was hot as hell. The bad part about it all it all is that my friend only has a skateboard, and it's hard for him to keep up / go long distances, especially on the road where there's no sidewalks. We did that for a while of switching back and forth and it got kind of annoying for him so we went back inside. I did a short cruise [Like maybe a mile] by myself down this nice bike path near his house, that was fun.
Then we rode over to a school that's about 3/4 mile away from his house, hopped the fence and started riding, was awesome. Super smooth sidewalks clear from any debris, but it was really hot so after about 30 minutes we headed back inside.
Around 9 or so I went out alone again [he was too tired] and the weather was amazingly perfect. It was bright enough for you to see perfectly but not bright enough to hurt your eyes, it was cool with occasional nice breeze, loved it, too bad it didn't last long.
Around 10 PM or so we rode to the Wendy's and got a bite to eat, then rode back, about 15 minutes later we decided to drive over to Little Ceaser's and get some pizza. [I eat a lotttttt for only weighing about 140 or so]. That's when fun started, from 10:30 till maybe 11:45 we were just riding around in the empty parking lot [there was 1 car in the corner] eating pizza. Was very fun.
