Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Second day on my new 42" KS Scimmy. So this is my second day practicing standup 180 slides. Tonight was much similar to last night. No luck even breaking the wheels out, and I'm not sure if that's cause the wheels came out and hit the pavement only yesterday, or what. I practiced for a couple hours, and no luck. I'm starting to get really frustrated, and kind of down on myself cause I can't get it, and I'm usually quick with learning new things. Wonder if I'll ever land the damn things! Some of it might be confidence due to me being sketched on bailing with no kneepads.
Anyway! Tonight I was on my way over to practicing my slides in the Embassy Suites parking lot as a guy in a top apartment yelled something at me, blah blah. Dude came down, was drunk, got in my face, threatened me, walked towards me slowly pulling something out of his pocket, so I smashed my left hand with my slide glove on across his cheek, and skated home as fast as possible.

He wobbled, hard. Then stood there dumbfounded as all hell. Then hunted for me, haha. Was an adventure.

Carve hard on those wheels for a few days, then try again. New wheels are always really hard to slide... Gotta rough up that surface.

get one of them there ankle brace things at the drugstore. had the same problem a couple weeks back, used the brace while boarding and an ice pack after at home and no longer have the problem. just have to build up the right muscles for pushing and breaking.

Try a physiotherapist, massage therapist, acupuncturist...sometimes a chiropractor will be all three rolled into one. Ideally, you would like someone who treats sports injuries.

actually, by two marriages, i'm related to a sports therapist that is the athletic trainer for the high school i graduated from and my brother still attends. might have to drop him a line. he's really busy with football right now though

my skate today was great. when you work on tricks over numerous months every chance you get, and then after all those months you go out for a skate and nail them all perfect, all fluent and almost effortless. its a great fealing

Went to one of my favorite parking lots and broke in my Superglider. practiced my pendy's and Coleman's. Coleman's are fun, pendy's are still being worked on.

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
I've been land paddling about ten miles each day with my Kahuna Big Stick and have a pretty comfortable routine. A hard paddle out with the wind in my face and a slight uphill all the way out, then a 5 mile carve and LDP session all the way back with nary a kick or paddle necessary. Yesterday I had the Kracked Skulls Scimitar out and decided to go a bit further which required me to paddle up a pretty steep area of the trail. For the trip back, I took the road instead of the familiar trail since the road is much wider and I figured I could bleed off some speed by carving. No, I have not learned to slide yet. Well, about 15 seconds later I realize I'd bitten off more than I could chew. I found myself accelerating down the road which was much steeper than the trail I had just paddled up. I was going faster than I ever had on a skateboard. I thought about foot braking, but I was now getting front end wobbles so bad that taking a foot off the board meant leaving red skid marks and yards of skin on the pavement. I was already going much faster than I could run, so running off was not an option. "Ride it out, bitch", I thought to myself, but the speed wobbles were now making the board unstable. My only recourse was to use the Kahuna Big Stick as a brake, so I extended the stick behine me and applied the pressure. I could feel the rubber pads wearing away as I leaned back on the stick with all of my weight. In what seemed like an eternity, the board finally slowed down enough to stop the wobbles and allow me to make some wide turns to further slow me down. A few moments later I turned back on the trail like nothing had happened. I looked at the previously round rubber pads on my Big Stick and they are now completely flat on one side. Good thing they come off and can be rotated. I REALLY need to learn to slide. I'm going to give that hill another go soon.

had the same thing happen while out on my scimi last week. noticed the wobbles pretty quick and jumped off and ran it out. realized the scimi is a very good cruiser/dancer but not stiff enough for a newbe on the downhill. within a week or two i plan on buying a more better, stiffer board for dh. its too easy to get going dh and miss judge how fast ur going imho. i hate having too many cases of the "Oh s###s"

It's pretty funny now that I survived, but it was pure terror at the time. At one point I found that my face was frozen in a silent scream. I was too proud to scream, but my face sure wanted to I guess.
I just got in my new Rayne Demonseed, put on some Viscous grip tape, screwed on some Randall 180's with some Abec 11 Gumballs and took it out with the 'stick. No wobbles on smaller hills so later this week I will face the hill that tried to make me a pussy and bomb it. (I have gotta learn to slide).

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
so, i've been riding my board from my car to class because i park a good distance from the school and it allows me a few minutes more to sleep. i generally park, ride to winco, pick up an arnold palmer ($.82), then head to class. i stepped into the bookstore today, carrying my board, and the security guard started talking to me. apparently he used to ride in his youth and even used longboards for luge. he said he'd love to be able to do it now, but he's wrecked his motorcycle too many times to do much of anything anymore. he was really excited to see a longboard and said he was pretty much positive i would receive no hassle from campus security about it.
on another note, i stopped by my local skate shop to check out their going out of business sale it sucks to lose them, but i'm gonna hit up some of the deals on friday when i get paid. lb completes are $130, decks are $50, and the guy said he'd probably give me deals on trucks and wheels if i wanted. they have kahuna, santa cruz, riviera, and surf one decks. i think i'm gonna get a kahuna campus cruiser. might pick up some indy or paris trucks. possibly some retrofreerides or some flywheels. not sure yet
Skate today because it might rain tomorrow

Re: How was your daily longboarding ride/s?
Before work a buddy of mind showed me a local hill I didn't know about. He doesn't really skate, but after borrowing my switch and Dervish a couple of times he's getting mighty interested in buying my FSM.
Anyway, point being he doesn't skate, but he found this crazy steep and narrow path. So I tried it out on my Switch and sure enough, it being narrow as hell I barely had enough room to whip my board out 90 degrees. It was a rush though. Definetly trying it out on something shorter at some point!
Shouldn't have let my ex keep that LY Spud I bought for her.
