^ ^ well don't let winter stop you... as long as the roads are dry. That's my plan anyway.

This morning was the shitz! My little tricked out 38" KS Scimitar has only gotten occasional love. Very low and carvy but it felt kind of small. Tue afternoon I'd pulled the trucks and brushed a coat of polyurethane on the bottom. This morning I was going to put the Paris trucks back on. I tried the Revenge Alphas but found they didn't fit the cutouts. hmmm? I had a set of Orange crails sitting there that's been on and off different decks, not finding a forever home. Crails won't fit the cutout either but the orange matched the pumpkin orange plates on the deck.

Well... this little Scimmy was kind of scary low anyway.
So I topmounted them even though the KS is a drop through. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Had to force a couple of bolts through since the deck holes weren't exact matches for the Crail baseplate. I also finally broke down and pulled those stock Moog bushings. Tried several iterations (wanted to use the Randal yellows but I'd needed a little longer kingpin). Finally settled on Blue Bitches, Venom Sidewinders and the MHS bearing seals go with the blue bushings. I ended up being LATE FOR WORK because it was too much fun riding it. Topmounted with crails, I don't have to worry about a toe hanging out and causing footbite on hard carves. Suddenly the deck is much more comfortable as my forward foot automatically finds the corner of that plate KS has on the ends. Fun, fun, fun and I can't wait to get back home.

Crails with soft bushings = awesome!

Weird synchronicity though, I too took my much loved Scimiter out today too. Had a fun skate through the wet, couple of out of control standers that felt like they were 20+ feet long haha...and a dude who was 56 and wanted to know where I got my board and how fast longboards can go. I think I converted him. =D

HA! He'd probably rep you, if he could. Play with your scimmy, topmount it one day just for kicks. Although I don't know if I'd do it to my 46". That's got a lot more flex with the longer wheel base.

Uneventful, It's cool damp and overcast with rain in the forcast.

I took a ride on my top mount for the first time in a longtime and I am developing a definate preferance for the drop through.

That sucks and it does seem to happen right when there's an audience. Maybe we subconsciously crank it up a notch for applause. My last one with an audience was the 3rd time around my 1.26mile loop in the hood one afternoon a couple of weeks ago. This time there was some peeps out on the sidewalk near the end where I'm pushing up a grade. I guess I was pushing a little harder, leaned too far forward, caught a tar snake, board had a sudden decrease in speed and I did a short run out. Of course I have the audience's full attention. sheesh

    That's always the way.

My ride last night was great. I skated around my neighborhood for a while and then went to an empty basketball court for about 4 or 5 hours and worked on cross-stepping. After a little while I was able to cross-step without falling off the nose and running out. I spent the rest of the night trying to smooth it out and maintain a carve, which I was doing reasonably well by the time I went home.

My legs are a little sore today, but I'm psyched that I'm on my way to smooth cross-stepping.

I had to bail in front of the kids next door yesterday . I was cruising down the hill carving and unintentionally pulled my first heel side standie .... well half of it. The ass end broke loose when I wasn't expecting it and the buzzer in my head went off No Recovery ... Eject... Eject a short barrel roll and none the worse for wear. The kids got a laugh though.

    Good job AndyRoo !!

Mike - bwaaaahahaha!! and congrats on the first standie! I have a feeling I'm going to have a similar experience. On a couple of boards I'm twisting it harder and harder coming down my grade, kind of expecting/waiting for the first time they actually break free.

Yeah as I get more comfortable with the Heist I'm opening up my carves some allowing more speed . Until this the lime freerides had held , I guess I know about where the breakpoint is now.

so, first day on the indy trucks i picked up last week today as well as the riviera wheels. didn't realize how loose the trucks were set and had to stop several times before i found a comfortable setting. hate the bushings though, as i have almost no carve whatsoever. i love how much lower the board is. almost ate shit several times before i found a good setting on the trucks too =P
Skate today because it might rain tomorrow

That's always going to be the case. I can have a great day riding, and not see anybody, but the one time there are people around I fall hard.

heh, heh... maybe that's a contributing factor to the blazing DH'ers crashing bales on the corners. That's where all the onlookers congregate, right?

I haven't skated in weeks... went out of town (should have brought my board, found some very sick hills that make my town look like a parking lot), got H1N1, then I tweaked my back and now it's probably going to snow. Christ.

Just skating around in the parking lot behind my store trying to tune my trucks perfectly.
I think I gotta go half a turn tighter, at full toeside carve i bit just now, and that never happens.
