I'm supposed to be writing a speech but I'm drawing a blank, so me and the dog went for a skate up and down the street. I found out that drop Indy's are so low that when I try nose manuals I will get foot bite on the wheels if I don't pay attention

heh, heh... not paying attention tends to bite no matter what I'm doing.

Today was pretty good. Gusty west wind but after finishing up a new deck, some yard work and then getting the dogs out for a 45 min hike, it was skate time. Just pushed up my street and ripped back down the grade with that tail wind but it was good. I was about to go upstairs but it's almost a full moon and the air is clear... I think I need to go up to the corner and bomb that little hill a couple of times.

I was bombin this real nice hill when about halfway through a minivan decides to back up right into my path. I jus barely got out of the way in time but god it scared the #### outta me. Other than that it was good.

had a sweet impromptu solo night ride tonight. been a while since ive gone out alone, super fun to just hit my hood in my own style without pressure to keep up or whatever.

weird tho, two days ago a meager check slide was going past 90 and i was coming off, tonight the checks werent even coming, so instead of workin it i just carved the chill hills.

wondering if its just me or maybe that its about 15 degrees cooler??

took 4 runs just tucking progressively higher on the steep hill, maybe close to 30 which is fast for me.

my wheels are a hell of a lot smaller now and every run i hit a small rock close to my top speed. kinda freaky but no bails.

so much fun! way stoked i found boarding!

6 mile skogg with mister Yandall and friends.

then off to a sweet garage sesh in a 8 story garage at night.

got the first steps to powersliding my BE40 with 86a zigs ( short wheelbases are way harder to powerslide on with soft wheels man... they grip like a vice!!! and then when they do break loose its all erratic!... i can do it on anything with 26 and up like a dream, but barely can manage to break them loose with 22", freaking weird. any tricks to doing it? i managed to pull 2 clean ones off, but still.... lol)

    more skating tomorrow! yay!

Just got in to longboarding (never skateboarded before) and just picked up my Dervish about a week ago. I've been getting comfortable with the board at night on a dead end street and finally took the board for a 2 mile "commute" last night. I have to say I was a bit disappointed in the amount of work it takes to commute on a board! Going up the hills was brutal and going down the hills with traffic was a bit scary because I only know how to foot brake and I don't do that super well. Did I enjoy the trip? Certainly did! I'll have to do it more often to get better.

first commute on a nemesis. what a difference, this thing is solid as a rock. no wobbles for the 3 mile skate w/ 1mile down hill. can't ride the complete way down the hill but working on it. have to pad up and wear the helmet on a day off and see what can be done. too shaky with only wrist protection. next 2 or 3 days full of rain. i can wait.

I got my LDP board a few days.

It's awesome! I can't believe I could pump on any of my other boards.

You can just go for miles and miles.

It's an awesome workout! I'm going to have crazy abs in a month or two.

After going back to my dervish, it fels pretty weird. I felt like my back truck was really loose.
Having the back truck dewedged so much on the LDP makes it awkward going back to symmetrical board.

I was doing toeside/heelside 180s in no time.

I got road rash when I messed up a toeside drift today.

I need to work on those.

The feeling of your knee just sliding across the pavement is an interesting feeling. I should have had much worse rash than I got. The pavement was rough as hell.

Every Thursday the Penn State Longboarding Club meets on campus. A bunch of guys who bike also meet at another building close by and do a "Happy Thursday" bike ride around campus. It's awesome. The guys are pretty cool and let us skitch off of their bikes and whatnot. They all have mountain bikes, and do some pretty crazy stuff on them. A lot of kids bunny hop like 5 foot gaps. I had a pretty awesome time this week.

epic session last nite in escondido. we had 4 guys and rode from about 7 to midnite with some beer breaks in between.

at last got smart enuf to bring a shuttle.

first ride of the night conner came off his board and it got smashed by a car. big bummer.

went back to my pad and got a backup board and proceeded to tear it up.

top speed of the night was verified by garmin gps at 41.1 mph. zach was smokin.

the RYANSHECKLEROFLONGBOARD was on my ass (and blasting past me) all nite, sliding like a mutha fuka.

sheckler had a brain fart wipe out on the flats as i did i. stiff neck today.

I embraced this cold and wet time of year by getting crazy with some rain sliding. Loving every 10 foot long check slides and 15 foot long colemans! We were all bitter about the weather in the beginning, but we were hooked from the first slide! Since I kept running up the hill warmth wasn't a problem.

I might just survive the winter after all
