Eastbilt 60 Help
well i've been browsing around here for a few months now, and i figured now is the time to give my loaded pintail some company. since im in high school, money is obviously an issue, and that's why i looked towards the eastbilt. i actually just scored some imitation 180 r2's from ebay for $9, but now is where i need the help.
from what i've read, it seems the best wheel size for this board would be from 70mm to maybe 77mm. i like the idea of a bigger softer wheel on this board because this board will be just for long cruises, and maybe so i can get into some dancing.
it seems that gumballs or grippins would be a wise choice, but i was wondering if anyone else rolled on something different for their larger board. and lastly, with the eastbilt and these imitation r2's, will i need risers if i go above 70mm. thanks for any help.

Re: Eastbilt 60 Help
I've rode both Grippins and Gumballs on a dancer, and I prefer the Grippins. They just make the board feel a bit less laggy in turns to me, but still roll over stuff quite nicely. The big size and weight of the board will keep you rolling far anyways, and suck up/dampen a lot of the vibrations that the smaller wheels might not.
I run a 1/8" riser on my OSD and it's fine. But it's also a lot more narrow at 8.5" wide. You want to keep the board as low as possible, and since that Eastbilt is pretty cheap you shouldn't be too afraid of making some wheel wells in it. I know that some people prefer Gumballs on their big boards, or even larger wheels than that. They would take more effort to get moving though (if you get huge wheels), but they would roll further. The 70mm wheel is a good size for how I ride my board (lots of dancing and boardwalking).

Re: Eastbilt 60 Help
aright thanks for the help. are there any specific threads or websites that have good instructions on how to do wheel wells. my i've seen my friends just use a file or w/e but im guessing there's a better way.

Re: Eastbilt 60 Help
I haven't looked specifically, but I'd say look around the board building forum there should be some good info available in there. If there isn't, just start a new thread and there should be some help pretty quck.

Re: Eastbilt 60 Help
well I've used 77mm wheels on an Eastbuilt 60" and RII 180's I wouldn't recommend it. I needed almost a half inch of riser to prevent wheelbite. Lately I've been using Pink 7-0's with Indy215's and 1/8th" of riser with great results. The only problem is that my 200lbs occasionally bottoms the board on curbs and things. The RII 180's and the 77mm wheels are going on a custom drop-though

On a 60"? Go cheap and get some Kryptos in 70mm or 65mm and save yourself $20.

This is also true. On a large board you won't ride it aggressively, so as long as you have some soft 70mm wheels that aren't horrible, you should be pretty happy. It's not like you'll be pushing them for grip/drifting/sliding constantly, or pumping it very hard.

Re: Eastbilt 60 Help
on the consertive side sector 9 has a 70mm called the 9 ball which i think is a 78A which is good for general cruising
Kryptonics does have an ok 70mm wheel as well that might be a few dollars cheaper than the S9 wheel
Seismic has a really nice set of wheels offered in a few differnt sizes and durometers that might work as well but they are going to run you a bit more money - click the link in my signature for MUIR surf and skate and give them a call talk with Scott tell him Brad reffered you he might have a good recomendation as well and he can ship anywhere in the US - he carries grippins, gumballs, and Pink 70mm from retro wheel - basically all from ABEC 11 - but if you are looking at grippins you might as well look at the seismic's as well

Re: Eastbilt 60 Help
imo, i think you should run 70mm grippins. because you say crusing, so i doubt you plan to slide.....hence the grip
also, 1/2 riser should be good, thast what i'm wondering, and no wheelbite.

Re: Eastbilt 60 Help
I like the Kryptos more than the S9 wheels. The Kryptos feel softer/gummier, which will be a nice smooth ride on a big board.
