Buy some softer bushings then, so you can actually put the nut on far enough to be safe!

Get soft bushings and snug them up! A hard bushing w/ no pre-load sucks !!!!!!! That's called slop!

Really loose! I had wedged R2-180s on a vanguard with blue khiro hourglass cones in the front, and jingling bushings on a 3 inch kingpin. Pumped good, but still couldn't turn as tight as I wanted on steep hills. So I swapped out the randalls for original s10s. Now they have some stability at center, no jingle and turn the pants off a randall.

    Go original!

    I'm with Slim and Dave.

There's a rather small range of proper tightness -- bushing just a bit deformed, minimal/no washer rattle, snappy rebound to center. If you want turnier, get softer bushings or bitches/inserts. If you want tighter, go harder or barrels.

Tightening/loosening is for fine-tuning. Soft bushings save lives!

I ride tight...but I have enough weight to make tight seem looser than your hot, slutty cousin who makes you feel uncomfortable.

I'm also one of those guys. I have the bubble gum pink hourglass shaped bushings snugged down. I can litterally turn around in a 3 foot area. Its insane. Kind of feels like s8 trucks with this setup. Super duper responsive. If my longboards were dinosaurs, most of them would be carvisaurous rex's.
