Would someone please explain the advantages of a caster board like this over a decent LDP setup or slalom setup? I mean, this is less customizable and cant go down serious hills, why would you chose it over a good pumping skateboard?

Doesn't look like too many advantages.. probably easier to learn but not as fast or versatile.. looks great for no-skill g-turns as well. but why not just stand in the basket of a shopping cart?

what they offer is
easy low speed pumping..
this one is very much like the carver C7....
i did see a complete carver cx setup selling at big5 before..
Let's see, it's not as fast or as versatile as a longboard or skateboard and can't go switch.
Oh - but you can pump on it. I get it. It's a Pump Rock board! I love it how these videos have some kid wiggling back and forth at 2mph behind some fast early pukesque soundtrack.
the guy who distributes them actually emailed me and sent me one for a review...
i been riding it for the past couple of days...
well, i don't really like it...
it behaves similar to a carver c7, but its just so tippy with only one wheel up front, and no RTC..
deep lean is disconcerting, as the front end likes to wash out...
(maybe the front wheel should be rubber instead of urethane)
the trucks look to be good quality, but the back randal style truck is too turny for this board (a traditional truck should work fine)
the homemade version (above) actually looks to be much more stable..
anyways, they are selling it through walmart, maybe it would catch on or maybe not... (we probably all thought ripstiks wouldn't sell... and look at it now... )
I would think that it is because that it is a lot easier to learn to ride a caster board, than it is to learn to pump. I got the ripstick down in about 3 days, but learning to pump took me around 2 months!
yeah without a return to center it would be like having a truck with no bushings in it. yeah you can still make it work but why would you?
lol
actually, different mechanics... castors offer a trail effect that's missing in skate trucks... even with RTC on the pumprockr, it wouldn't solve the tippiness issue...
i had a narrow seismic front with very very light springs....
low speed pumping...
i can pump circles on a hill...
