While some may take it that way, I believe that Sk8norcal was stating a personal observation. Which may or may not be substantiated by facts. Of course I don't expect too many people to be doing too many ollies on a 40" deck that doesn't have a kicktail. Even with a tail I can't pull one off on my Supercharger.....

    haha, the truth hurts..

most skaters think longboarders got no skills...
most skaters think straps are lame...

longboarders that got no skills and think straps are lame...

    well, that is just ironic...

my point is if you gonna hate on straps, you should at least have some skill to back it up... otherwise its just all talk...

(btw, I skate park and longboard, so I see both side... )

    So drop it then.

The general public will never see longboarding as cool. So why are you on the internet trying to convince them it is?

Your negative quotes are what I call you hating on boards with bindings so that is what I quoted. Maybe you need some leathers for your feelings.

Do I go to whatever thread you post to and call you a kook?

Yeah, but the skateboarder was way cooler because it is harder because he isn't bound in. Failing is much cooler than suceeding.

Skateboareding would be way more cooler if they would quit cheating with those kick tails and urethane wheels. Then they would fail 100% of the time and be even more cool.

Gomer, you're officially trolling now, congrats.

HC, I haven't seen that RTR for a few years, I might have even loaned it to someone and forgotten, but will let you know if it resurfaces.

Hey James, I am dragging u into the strap debate...
so in LDP, skyhooks are banned..??

I remember in the early slalom revival days...
many euro riders were riding skyhooks on flexy slalom decks..(Indiana)

they pump to get around and hop up curbs..
those guys were the OG LDPer....

Actually, lately, everyone I talk to sees longboarding as cool.

Every shortboarder I have told about my topspeed of 65 mph has blown their minds.

haha, not at all, there's potential, though I've pumped only briefly with the LY hooks then removed them. I dug the extra leverage, but overall just felt a little too locked in, like they get in the way as much as they help. mine are the plain aluminum ones, kinda big, I think the smallish plastic ones might feel a little less like bindings.

what's funny about using the word 'banned' -- is when the 6-wheeler debate was all the rage on ISSA, I asked about the legitimacy of using skyhooks in slalom, and Chaput proposed that they might be banned because they hang over the foot and offer too much advantage. Hmmm....

i do remember the early indiana stuff. all they really needed to go the distance on those boards were longer wheelbases!

I am not impressed...all you are doing is bending over and grabbing your ass... and Dirtsurfers have gone faster and they are more dangerous cause they are strapped in.....

Dirtsurfers have a brake. I are uninmpressed.

Plus I heard they are the easiest thing to ride. Sure do look cool though!

    On pavement ... Yes.

Where they lack is in carve.

I recommend you avoid the bait in this thread.

so basically, anything that is easier than skateboarding with straps and/or brakes can't possibly impress you (aka, highly skilled professional downhiller with pink leathers) ...

are you sure those shortboarders are impressed?
usually they think your long wheelbase is like cheating or something...

ps. Don't put words in my mouth. You guys seem to like to twist what people say.

I don't give a crap what you enjoy or do for fun. I just wanted to give you all reasons, why many people tend to not give the niche, of extreme snakeboarding props.

jeez, thanks, somehow I couldn't figure that one out myself until you decided to enlighten us...

do you want to hear all the reasons from shortboarders on why most skaters don't give longboarding any prop...?

    yah, i don't think so...

Idc if shortboarders don't like longboarding. I do it for fun. I hope you guys do it for fun as well.

I just find it funny how soft Gomer's skin is.

If he can't take one negative comment about snakeboarding, then he's in deep doodoo in the real world.

Wow, that boarder cross event has some potential. I don't think the boards they were riding we're not quite right for the course. Although the clips helped.

That first pump hump was just wrong. Way too tall and steep on the downhill side. You either had to slow to make it, launch up and over like a spine or crash. It looks like most people crashed.

Why course dsigner put stuff like that in a downhill course where it causes the worse possible injuries is beyond me. I remember seeing a video of some mountainboard (or was it steet luge) riders on a roadway down hill course (some Red Bull sponsered deal probably a course for bikes) where there was a launch ramp at the very botton near the finish.

Perfect. A launch ramp right where you have gained the most speed. Why don't they have people just run out and hit riders with bats on the way down?

I don't think head-to-head boarder cross is smart on the roadway either. Cashes are going to happen. Why scarifice riders just for the amusement of others.

    Time trials would be better.

I've done a search on the term "LDP" but can't find where it is written out. Is it "long distance pumping" or "longboard downhill pumping" or what?

Nevermind. I just saw in the Disciplines listing. Long Distance Pumping - right?
