Just bought a Flowboard
I found a dusty flowboard shortdeck with shitty wheels and bearings
I was 60% off at Zellers and so I decided to buy it simply for the DCS trucks (DeepCarveSystem)
Are the trucks adjustable to any longboard?
I'm thinking of drilling holes into my bigfish:
Anyone have/heard of a drilling template to mount them
Suggested Wheelbase?
Does anyone know of parts I can upgrade to (softer & taller wheels?) the yellow ones
Can I upgrade the wheels with standard rollerblade wheels?
Who here has ridden a flowboard before?
What about the FatBoy Bamboo flowboard? Any Reviews?
Anyone willing to sell better wheels then the ones I already scapped today ( I dont even think they're made of urethane!)
WOW! this is gonna cost a bundle in good & fast rolling bearings!
Still is a wicked feeling, it does carve REALLY deep!

Re: Just bought a Flowboard
Please, any other deck than the Bigfish.
The Bigfish is just too good the just way it is.
I have my Bigfish drilled out one more space than the last one provided in the back so it will be a bit more flexy and it is the nicest carver I've ever been on.
I suggest you put the DCS truck on the front of something else and a 169mm or 184mm conventional back truck set up (like a Loaded Hammerhead).
Makes for a fun ride and really good in the steeps.
Have you got another deck you can do it with?

yah dude, dont ruin your fish. Thats a skate board. it doesnt deserve that silly junk.

Re: Just bought a Flowboard
Well its what i got at home and its vertical lamitated maple it looks like the flowboard by Fatboy done a few years back.
Its such a wide pintail, i think its one of the few boards i can drill a proper wheelbase to attach these DCS trucks...
beside if i ruin this bigfish, it will give me another reason to get the new 2007 ultra light weight honey-comb core bigfish. You can see through the board! its soooo cool!
besides i dont think it would hinder the structural integrity of the board, simply buy drilling an extra 4 more holes to each side...if i dont like it I'll go back to crails.

Re: Just bought a Flowboard
i have one of those, and its kinda fun on a realy realy realy steep hill, i just wish those wheels were softer and the whole thing was faster, i'm thinking i might take those truckish wheel things off and put some indi 215s on there and have a realy realy wide park board instead

Yep, its just that they recently moved the factory from Montreal to Quebec City, but i did get to see a pile of 'em in montreal sooo....
we wont wait too much longer before they're available everywhere

Re: Just bought a Flowboard
they arent 100% honeycomb about 30% in the tail region is

Re: Just bought a Flowboard
Crappy-
Have you seen one of the new ones?
Stiffer or more flexy than the old one?
Tell what you know mister !!

Re: Just bought a Flowboard
Bought a new one in January cause I had to find out for myself. Does lean hard. But without a 45 degree slope, the thing is slow as a snail.
Will try hybridizing with T-board or RTR-2W rear truck. Overall, Joe Bob gives this one a big thumbs down.

Re: Just bought a Flowboard
ive got a flow, i love it. Ive beaten my brother and my cousin who both ride freeboards in races with it and none of us are horribly speed fearing. dont understand what the problem is.
in response to the original post:
the deck has to be about 10 inches wide, and ive got the 36'' model the wheel base is about 18 (between the inside of the trucks) and is comfortable. Any in-line wheel will work with the trucks, bigger and harder is better for faster.

After riding my mountain boards with channel trucks and 9" street wheels -- the flow board feels like a slow, awkward dinosaur. Don't like it at all. But thats from my perspective.
You want to buy one ridden 3 times for less than 30 min.?

Re: Just bought a Flowboard
indeed. a mountainboard witha high psi in the tires can rip and is super stable (matrix trucks even more so that the channel locks) i guess on the flow i'm excited about how it gets unstable at high speeds, which wouldnt necesarily be a good thing, except speed wobbles dont throw you on it, you can just ride them out. I dunno, i like it a lot not the fastest thing in the world, but i like it

Gotcha. My quest has been for a hard carving (railing) board with a fluid feel, like cutbacks and hard bottom turns on a surfboard -- all this mixed with just a tad of speed.
Two 16'' axle channel trucks or a mixture of 16" with 15" or 14" twin shock channel truck systems (no eggs for any) on my MBs is delivering exactly what I have been after. I have been mixing deck lengths (distance between axles) to alter turning radius also.
While the flow board will lean over hard on the rails, the transition in and out is bumpy feeling and I don't like the feel of the road noise in my feet.
I ride 23 psi in my MB street tires on steep asphalt. Great grip/traction and that pressure removes the feel of road noise from the ride (nice and fuid). I have to lean really deep into a hard cut-back or front-side (toe-side) rail turn to break the wheels loose -- it does happen though when I really push the limits. However, the traction is so good I can usually recover without a side-slip or spin-out wipeout. All this and I can run a quick, responsive 20-25 mph while rippin (wobble has not been a problem).
Pale Rider at "dirtboardx" has said he feels like the old-school channel trucks are more responsive (which is what I like) while the matrix system channels are more stable.
Don't mean to insult the flow-board it's just not the ride for me.

Re: Just bought a Flowboard
woah, no eggs? 23 psi?
most people i know ride at at least 60, you still cant feel any imperfections in the road and it makes it a hell of a lot faster, but whatever feels good right?
(sorry about the thread jacking)

Absolutely, ride what you like. Gotta keep changing up til you find it.
The lower pressure really improves traction for harddd leans into very responsive carving. Decided no eggs whould be like a carveboard. Tried it and love the feel. Very loose but the wobbly feeling changes/stops as you pick up speed and start carving.
Don't think you jacked the thread. It has meandered already. We discussed flowboards.
