Default Carvestick to... Slidestick?

So I have this longstick... WHOOPEE! Well, no. My town is pretty damn flat so the thing is pretty useless. I can only do figure eights in the parking lot for so long, right?

Well, I like the deck and I can't sell it off to any of my poor friends so I was thinking about turning it into something a little more... useful: A slideboard.

So I'm looking for some opinions and a little bit of help. Since I don't have the thing with me, I need to know if there's anyone out there who knows what kind of hardware the longstick uses and to brainstorm some ideas with me.

Thanks

I'm thinking about scrapping the trucks altogether and fitting the board with Randalls, which I know would require some drilling. Though, i wonder if it wouldn't be worth it to go the whole mile and do cutouts for drop throughs.

I'm sick of stepping on those !@#$ trucks...

I strongly suggest finding a used longboard and ride that on flatland.
It will be much more suited to what you want to do.
You will spend a bunch of time and some money ruining a really good, well designed and executed carver.
You can make some good mods to a Longstik but throwing away the trucks and cutting the deck just does not make sense.

I'm used to cruising around on my Sec 9 Bomb Hills, (Randall 2s) so whenever I need to use the stik, I fall on my face at least once per trip.

I might try your modifications to the trucks, first. I'd love to be able to actually use the board without much fuss (or expense).

I might upgrade my Bomber to Randall DHs and move the R2s on the Stik.
Ultimately, I need to get back to school and really look at the board to see what's logical.

What exactly does "wedging" do, anyway?

Savannah is flat, so the LongStik is useless.
You have a Bomb Hills with RII's on it now which will work for flatland pushing/cruising and maybe some pumping and sliding right?
So you want to add Randal Downhill trucks to your Bomb Hills?
Very confusing, those trucks don't turn for shiit until you are going 30mph+.
Where will you ride that set up?
On the other hand, you could set up a slide rig pretty cheap but you will need a little hill or two for that.
And the deck for the LongStik is not really useful for RII's.
If flat is where you're at maybe start working on pumping.
maybe put the LongStik up for sale on the Carveboard forum.

I'm repeating what he said in the first line of his original post then asking about the logic of buying downhill trucks for his Bomb Hills.
I understand about the LongStik,I have one and you can pump it on the flats.

You are not using them for ultimate grip though are you?

Savannah is flat but the mountains in upper Georgia and South Carolina aren't. The Stik is too slow for downhill trips and it was always meant for more of a rec style, anyway. I figure I could get some more mainstream use out of the stik while I start to work on my DH.

I'm out of brainstorm ideas.
So what I'm hearing is you don't like the Longstik.
I agree it's definitely meant for recreation.
Skating is all recreation to me.
Have fun!
