Default Channel Trucks?

Anybody know who invented "channel trucks" and when?

Pretty sure it was Jason Lee and the guy he started MBS with who's name escapes me, and i'm pretty sure the year was 1996. If you look at some of the old frame mountainboards you can see the channel trucks are just steel square tubing and steel rod welded together...
I think i actually have a pair like that hanging around somewhere, if i can scrounge it up i'll post pics.

Jason Lee (1997) has the patent for the All Terrain Sports Board (United States Patent: 5997018).
I don't think, but don't know for sure though, that he holds the patent for the "basic" channel truck. The carveboard and several other ATBs use channel trucks too.

Gesmer et. al. may be before Lee (?):
United States Patent: 5263725

But if somebody has more info, I'm interested in hearing about it.

Patrick McConnell is Jason Lee's partner.
