I love my carvestik…I think… I’m loving the on-demand-stoke that the Carvestik is providing. First time on a skateboard, I’m constantly learning and expanding my limits…obviously since I recently started at 0. Also just beginning to understand some of the science behind it. I need some help. Sorry I’ve got so many questions but no one around me who owns this or anything like it.....and a few of you do.
[ I want to go faster but feels scary on the Stik ]
The only times I’ve encountered speed wobble is when I enter an arc after I’ve traveled straight while increasing speed downhill. I'm thinking this is a no no or is it rider error? not committed enough? I rarely experience it, usually keep carving. Speed wobble with eggs and Earthwing 76mm 82a Superballs now seem less rapid but with more punch I don’t like it. I know theres a speed limit but any tips to go fast safely?
[ Help with style ]
Why do I sometimes slide out when carving toe side down steep hills? I don't slide out unintentionally when doing heel side carves and all my accidents seem to happen when turning toe side too. Any common mistakes I might be doing?.....skate wise
I have visions carving back up hill then whipping it 180 and continue carving down hill, possible on my Surfstik? I always seem to loose the speed I want. Possible to whip it almost 360? Slide gloves with this thing retarded? Or just me?
[Dirtsurfer]
The Dirtsurfer is obviously good at going fast but am I right in thinking that it will also allow me to control speed, and come to a complete stop at any given point in the run? Do the dual purpose tires pose any concern for grip when riding on the street?
Re: help understanding my Carvestik & Whats next..
The carvestik is somewhat limited because of the specialty trucks it uses, granted those specialty trucks are also what makes the thing so fun to ride it just doesn't do so well up to speed/tricks.
I'd suggest adding another longboard to your quiver. Maybe something with a Randal style truck that is a bit more capable of different riding styles.
I'm not hating on the stik, I just know from owning one (since 2004) that another board will open up pandora's box and get you out skating territory that the stik would never have taken you.

Regarding frontside backside spin-outs, I spin-out easier frontside on my street mountainboards. Backside you're putting more weight over the wheels and to the rear. Frontside you can really lean into it without as much weight over the wheels especially rear wheels. If you lean too much into the nose (easy to do frontside) the rear wheels spin-out easily. But this is for street mountainboards. I found for really standing on rail carve with a set of orange eggs in the rear shocks puts more pressure on the rear wheels with yellows up front -- holds the wheels tighter to the ground, but I have air tires which have better traction.
Regarding the dirtsurfer, knobbies give a lot of road noise feel and slow your speed. I put Maxxis Hookworms on for street (two sets of wheels helps). I feel like the street tires hold the road better on paved surfaces. The brake does allow you to slow at any point and bring the board to a stop -- depending on how fast you're going.
