Stop trying to convert us, its not working. Ive tried it and I prefer longboarding. Thread moved.

LOL footbreaking is a lame way to slow down? You try lifting a foot at 40mph instead of having them snugly strapped down like a puss. Speedchecks and sliding are other ways to slow down. You know nothing about longboarding. Our community DOES know about freeboarding and we don't like it much. So stop trying so hard to make us agree with you that freebording is better.

    To All,
I wasn't trying to convince anyone that freebording is better merely that its another fun way to ride on the streets. I see now how it was falling on deaf ears but thats cool to each his own. If anything I figured as fellow board riders youd be stoked on the progress the board world has made instead of hating on it. Its not like i'm trying to promote the ripstik I know a few people who longboard and freebord and love both but I understand that can't be everyone. I have respect for longboarders but unfortunately sometimes it isn't mutual. Lets all just chill and relax and agree to disagree.

    Man, you really are thick.
How long ago did you discover the Freebord?
We have seen some of these films you posted for years.
Yes, you absolutely were and still are trying to explain all about the board like nobody here has ever seen it and that it was some great new thing you were bestowing upon the ignorant bunch here.
Deaf ears?...., lots of people said they knew what it is and that they have tried it and did not care for it.
Progress the board world has made?
You come here to tell everybody about a nine year old "new" thing you have found.
Your approach has been done here a dozen or more times by other Freebord missionaries.
That's why I said I wondered if the marketing group at Freebord had some special powers.
At least if you were here to talk about a Ripstick it might be slightly newer news.lol
Disrespect came from you, when you would not listen and learn, so has been returned to you.
Now you want everyone to chill and relax... why don't you read and learn for a couple of months before you shoot your mouth off again.

The hating came from your stupid attitude, not for the Freebord.

Disrespect came from you and has been returned to you.
Your approach was stupid and you were warned several times to get your head back in the right place but you don't listen real well.
Now you want everyone to chill and relax, you found a way to piss a whole bunch of people here off over and over again with your crap so why don't you read and learn for a couple of months before you shoot your mouth off again.
I was trying to clear the air and agree to disagree but you took it as one more chance to bash me. Real e-tough of you 8) I never tried to make it sound like that I was truly just stoked for people to see it who have never heard of it. I'm sure there are some on here who havent. I know its "your" community but I dont think you speak for everyone one here. I've said my peace. Good luck to everyone and peace out all.

Your incentive was far from spreading the stoke, my friend. If you can't see that then you've got a lot to learn about yourself, let alone the dynamic of action sports and their derivatives. Your post was just a slightly less direct parallel of the shortboarders who show up here once in a blue moon to inform us that shortboarding is better than longboarding. None of the hostility you faced here was unprovoked or unjustified. Take a lesson from this and be ensured that none of us hate freeboarding... we just hate punks with attitudes.

    Revolt,
I tried to be nice several times and you wanted a fight.
Now I e-kicked your ass and you're hurt.
I was not trying to go after you until you finally provoked it out of me.
It is not my community, I am an old, slow, skater who matters very little around here but I am not unintelligent as you stated and I know how to behave with strangers.
I am street smart enough not to go to a new surf spot or to a party where they don't know me and talk, talk, talk about my sh!t without listening and paying attention to what goes on right in front of me.
You asked for it... and now you want me to feel bad for you... for some reason I do.
So school up a bit... and peace out to you.

It bugs me when people flaunt ignorance and stupidity.

Does any of this sound like you?
I have far less skating experience than you though.

All I see in this thread are close minded people bickering with each other.

Yes, OP should be more respectful and he does make some generalizations as well as a few unsubstantiated claims, but I don't think his original intention was to bash longboarders or "convert" us. Almost everyone else are being trolls and shooting down some kid who rides a different board.
WHO GIVES A SH!T? Live and let live, my friends! So what if Freebording is a fringe sport? Who cares if it will never become mainstream? It doesn't matter that it is hard to push and that you cannot carve like on a longboard.

I am a longboarder, and I always will be. I used to tool around on a ripstik before I got a longboard, and you know what? IT WAS FUN! Sure, I looked like a moron while awkwardly twisting my torso to make it go forward, but I still had a good time. My point is it doesn't matter how stupid something looks or that it isn't as fast/cool/stable/practical as a longboard.

Yeah, silverfish is a longboarding community, but we shouldn't exclude bastardizations of our sport. All products are made to appeal to someone. If you don't like it, don't ride it, but don't try to convince other people that they shouldn't ride it just because it wasn't your thing. I think of silverfish as a haven for all things related to skating. It makes me sad when I see longboarders acting like street skaters by bashing people because they think they are "fags" or that their sport is "lame".

Edit: Wow, terribly sorry. I just realized this thread is over 3 years old. Oops.

haha, yeah. I realized that about a minute after I posted. I edited my original post a couple minutes before you responded and apologized for digging up old graves. Again, very sorry.

So much hate here. If I had expendable income I'd love to get a freeboard. Though I can't say that there's a lot of long hills around me for me to really enjoy it.

    haha, yeah, you caught me!
Five days after posting in this thread, I made the following post in Street skaters vs longboards (the big differences)

I think it is important to keep an open mind when interacting with or referring to another group of people. A TRUE street skater is not an attention seeking, law-breaking, douche as the OP suggests. These people are POSERS and will never be true skaters.
I realize that I contradict myself, but I assure you I stand by the above statement. I am not perfect and sometimes I too make generalizations and judge people unjustly. If I could amend my previous statement, I would replace the words "street skaters" in the last paragraph with "posers".

I apologize for the contradiction. I have absolutely nothing against our street skater brothers and sisters.

To me, riding a freeboard is the same thing as riding a ripstik. It's sort of a cool idea, and everything, but it's never going to be recognized as a sport, nor would I ever think I looked cool doing it.

    Irrelevant.

Freeboarding is NOT skateboarding, therefor I have no problems poking fun at it
