Re: DH in-line skates?
go home fruitbooter!!!!!!!
Blue stickers are only given to the select few people to suck adam coltons balls, and do it skillfully enough to give him blue balls. Thus resulting in the giving of the rare Blue Loaded Sticker.

Re: DH in-line skates?
because this website has proven itself (for the most part) reliable when it come to gravity sports and my friend was looking into getting into DH inline so i told him i'd ask the fish for him and they'd come up with something.

Re: DH in-line skates?
silly idea to ask a fish for information, they can't talk underwater.
Ride for the stoke, not for everyone else.

Re: DH in-line skates?
i skated with local DH inliners before,
they use regular fitness skates with longer frame.
this guys claims the official record at 65mph with these StreeSki...
i also skated with Noel McColma on quad rollerskates from berkeley
I believe he can beat any skaterboarder in berkeley with ease,
he can outcorner inlines and stop on dime...

Re: DH in-line skates?
Ed, your friend won't have any luck at the local rink; they don't know jack and they don't have anything to sell him, either. Dude can likely find some super-cheap used skates at the Salvation Army or one of the other thrift stores.. the one at South Market & Wyndham had a big pile of 'em last time I was in there. If he's wanting to upgrade to a longer speedskate frame for 'em, or get advice about better skates, he should have a look at the skatelog forums.
HC, you might be right about that quad guy. I used bomb the local hill (Placer St) on them back around '91, and those things are a lot more capable than folks would guess.

Re: DH in-line skates?
In-line skates are okay for an occasional diversion, but keeping up with DH skateboarders? What is your buddy's experience level on inline skates? Let me guess, he saw a video on youtube of some DH inline skaters killin it in the alps somewhere doin hockey stops at 40mph. Yeah sure, its a lot easier than longboarding - Not! The downhill inline skaters you see on youtube are either daredevils or gots years of experience on skates. Just tell him to get a board if he wants to hang with the longboarders, he will be wasting his money if his strategy is to inline skate with longboarders - he will probably just put them on the shelf to collect dust like the rest of us and convert over to boarding anyway (plus he won't have to keep answering questions about his sexual orientation).

Re: DH in-line skates?
David,
Just bustin' balls too, trying to open the kids eyes.
I've had lots of back and forth in the hybrids section about Dirtsurfers, Carveboards, mountainboards for street, Tierney Rides, Freebords, streetluge, headfirst street luge and on and on.
I always kinda laugh to hear skate kids knocking various boards they never tried.
A lot of them might be surprised how much fun some of the oddball stuff is, but I guess peer pressure is still a reality.
Easier for me to be open to anything, I've got no skate history before a Carveboard.
Skating was a snowboarding replacement when I started.
I skied growing up, snowboarding came much later.
I'm not a fan of rollerblading but I think Dirtsurfers and gravity bikes are a blast.
Can't do the luge thing, my neck won't bend that far.

Re: DH in-line skates?
i have got to try head first luge!!! that looks like a blast

Re: DH in-line skates?
David,
Have you seen the films of the guys on these things?.............bad..assssss!
Neuros-Unfortunately, my neck is not any longer close to normal.
Three discs removed and four neck vertebrae fused and screwed together with a titanium plate and eight screws.
Only got two moving vertebrae left in the old neck.

Re: DH in-line skates?
