First ever Freebord backflip
People are starting to push the sport to new levels. The freebord is truly such a versatile board. Stable at speeds, expressive ride, the freedom to explore and hit any hill, do freestyle tricks and have complete control. If anyone is considering getting one I highly recommend it.

I don't see the need for the caster wheel in a skatepark. The sky hooks and wide trucks are a plus. Good riding, I wouldn't do any of those tricks.
Snakboarding isn't really the same. The only common element is the bindings and the centered stance between the trucks,
Snakeboards, Streetboards and Freeline skates all have the same "toe-in, toe-out" move required to propel and turn.

Re: First ever Freebord backflip
yes, i am well aware that snakeboard rides different
(i used to own both)
the main problem with freebord in the parks is they can't pump transitions..
that why you don't see them on a mini ramp...
snakeboard/streeboard have been marketing to snowboarders as an off-season snowboard substitute...
been able propel and pump while strapped in is a big plus...
what sucks about snakeboard is they don't lean...

All I'm seeing is some kook with skyhooks.
Welcome to the internet, where everyone's a hater.

I know you know that they ride differently. I was responding to your suggestion that he ride a Snakeboard rather than a Freebord in a skatepark by saying that one is not an equal substitute for the other.
I'm pretty sure you could pump a Freebord on a transition. After all, they have skate trucks just like any other skateboard. I think you would need to raise up the caster wheels in order to get some grip to pump and not slide laterally.
I can't say that I've never seen them on a mini ramp but I can't think of why they wouldn't work there.
It's not difficult to push off with bindings. I think Streetboards are the only ones who use full binding as opposed to straps. I think I might have seen Snakeboards with full bindings years ago.
Snakeboards and Streeboards don't lean. That is true. They pivot on the horizontal axis to toe in or toe out the wheels and turn.
Here's a guy riding a mini around 1:22

well, that guy was doing better than I expected...
but still pretty awkward...
btw, if you remove the caster, it turns into skyhook skateboarding...

True. Except it is more like longboard skateboard riding with skyhooks. This difference is the wide Freebord trucks. Those trucks are wider than most typical longboards. I think Original makes one of the widest on-road skateboard type trucks.
Look at Doob boards to see why narrow skateboard trucks don't work well with skyhooks.
The similarity to longboarding (as opposed to shortboarding) is the equal stance rather than the feet-behind-the-trucks stance of a shortboard.
The video you attached is Streetboards with full bindings.
The Freeborder doesn't push because he doesn't need to. Although I don't see what pushing has to do with versatility. You can push a Freebord. There are many videos that show riders pushing.

Re: First ever Freebord backflip
If you want to "push," get a standard longboard...
If you want a specialized ride, get a "HYBRID."
"Ride" what you like...
