Putting the idea out there for anyone who might be interested in both. If you happen to have eight similar size longboard wheels (probably need to be sideset), and a pair of roller skates, it could be fun to try.
Maybe:
faster, more comfortable ride, better grip for tighter cornering and more lean at high speeds... drawbacks: wider, heavier.
Or another approach.. fasten four shortboard/longboard trucks to the soles of some shoes or boots.

It would be cooler to just strap two minis to your feet...

they used to put lots of "longboard" wheels on rollerskates

Yeh, of course, funny to be going back to where skateboards came from. Maybe bringing a little something new though too.
All the derby girls I know love the Bones Reds.
And totally, roller skates and blades, always worth grabbing nice ones for cheap even just for the bearings.

Here's mine:

Vans, in conjunction with ACS, made similar hightop rollerskates back in the 70s...

A lot of "longboard" wheels actually are rollerskate wheels. Anything that uses a .300" spacing was originally designed for skates (or at least the core was). When slalom started making a comeback 10 years ago, most of us were using rollerskate wheels, because those were the only suitable wheels that were available. Even the first slalom specific wheels in the early '00s (ABEC11 Stingers, Turner TLCs) were made using rollerskate wheel molds (ABEC11 Stingers, Turner TLCs).
And back in the 70s/early 80s, a lot of the big skateboard companies made rollerskates and parts for them, like Powell, Sims, ACS, Vans, Independent, and Tracker...

don't be surprised if chaput releases new rollerskate wheels before our pre-coned wheels come out

Back in '79-'80 I had a pair of Van's hightop skates with Krytos. We did all the same stuff with our skates that we did with our boards.
If you've never seen Fred Blood skate then take a look here.

Re: How bout longboard wheels on roller skates?
Just got these last night, and skated em for a couple hours:

55mm indoor wheels, 62mm outdoor wheels, boots, extra trucks, extra set of bearings.. (16 wheels total, 48 bearings total) All nice quality, 40$ on craigslist.
Going to be pretty hard to resist chopping all of that into longboards!
Still have never seen any 97mm's on a roller skate... so gotta leave those boots alone to try that some time..
Also, sneak peak at a real hybrid experiment in the corner of that photo...

OMG, Fred Blood - haven't heard that name since reading Thrasher in the mid 80s, when his roller skate antics were covered occasionally, in the 'kooky things folks do' vein.
I'd love to see some Avilas on some skates; seems like it'd be a fun ride.
