Well the sea calf is a speed board, so I wouldn't consider it too heavily if I'm looking for a more free-ride set up. Other boards to consider are the Clutch Lambchop, LBL Penguin and Earthwing Supermodel (dropthrough, but very good quality for a very good price)

Clutch Lambchop is a drop deck and the Supermodel is drop thru (while the Lambchop's TECHNICALLY topmounted, seeing as it doesn't have drop through cutouts, it's a drop deck yo)

The Avenger is such such such a rad board, the W on it is simply orgasmic and its taper is perfect, and I've never ridden the Sea Calf but it looks dope for freeride, so consider that one for sure. If you're thinking about comet, peep the Voodoo Doll instead of the D2, the taper on the Doll is rad for standies and stuff, and real men ride asymmetrical decks anyway. Out of those 3, my vote goes to the Avenger.

Otherwise, check out Bombsquad's Agent Orange, it's wide enough in back to keep it comfy for freeride but a bit of taper for that extra bit of toe/heel hang. Grease shark looks like cash money too.

Symetrical, so its baller for riding backwards.

Good Concave, keeps your feet locked.

    Good Wheel clearance.

    Under 100 bucks, ya budday.

Its been my choice for freeriding, give it a try! You won't regret it!

avenger is tuned for free ride the W is to give leverage. From what I understand it works pretty well too. I say just go with one that looks cool because of the options here you can freeride em all with out too much issue.

Check into Jati decks too. I prefer the Ninjati because of its steep 'w' concave.

It's an awesome freeride board. The concave is great, extremely comfortable (just as comfortable as the doll). Another positive about the calf is that the width is pretty consistent throughout the standing platform.

Ditto on the Jati. Also, the EWSM is AWESOME! Just has a VERY deep concave, so you've been warned.

And yes, the SM is dropthrough, but you mentioned it
