Default APEX 34 or CUSTOM 35?

I already have a Path 37 and now Im having a dilemma between the Apex 34 and the Custom 35. Which carves better? Which is better for commuting? Height and weight difference?

The custom 35 is probably about as tall as the path, and has really nice feeling flex. since you do have the path, i'd go for the apex. It doesnt have a riser so it'll be a better cruiser in my opinion, and its short, so I'd take the apex.

I have the custom 35, and I really like it. However, it seems too similar to the path that I'd get the apex 34 instead. The 35 does have s8's though, and i believe the 34 comes stock with s6's. I havent tried s6's without broken wavecams, so I'm not sure how they perform, but for a commuter I'd go with s8's. I feel fully comfortable with them taking 90 degree corners on the sidewalk, and they seem like the most stable for the board. For carving, the s6's will turn tighter, but the s8's are amazing for carving anything less than 20mph, they are so incredibly smooth and fast.

    hope that helps a little.

Just got my Apex 37, and love it. Shape is amazing. And i'm guessing the 34 will be almost identical but scaled down a little. Go with the apex, you won't regret it

I don't own either, but I'm getting the Custom 35. Think about what you are doing with the board and then wonder if getting the Custom 35 is worth selling a more than capable board. Either way you go, Original makes fun rides.

Obviously the wheelbase on the Custom 35 is a little shorter than the Path. The biggest difference I notice between the two boards is the camber. The Path has none and the Custom does. I personally don't like camber.

The Custom is a great thrashy carving board and the Path has a lot more of a mellow feeling to it. I think they're different enough that you'll notice and very possibly want to keep both. One of the best setups I've ever ridden is a really worn in Path with S6s, it's just an awesome ride.

Between the Custom and the Apex I'd say it really depends on what you want to do. The Apex is designed to be an all-around board that's good for tricks. The Custom is designed to be the ultimate carver.

My vote is for the Apex, I have one (a 34) and I use it for commuting, carving, and I'm getting into some freestyle and sliding. Bottom line, get the Apex, you won't be disappointed.

agreed, i use my apex34 with S8s for commuting and its great. easy to push, lightweight, and carves so tightly. red springs will smooth out the ride as well and make it a little more stable.

Originals are the best boards on the market in my opinion. They make great products and have excellent customer service. I have the apex 37 and it's the best. I also have the Derringer 28 and the custom 44. I have ridden the Custom 35 and it is amazing for carving so it's really all up to you.

I had the S8's too, but I just got a set of S6's cause I kept kicking the wheels. Now my S8's are gonna go on a LBS 40inch blank deck, and its probably gonna be my new commuter board. But yea red springs really do make all the difference, the board feels super stable, but still carves up a storm.

don't think im gonna go with original trucks due to my bad experiences on hybrid. Gonna get paris 180s , i will need to use this board for the next couple or so years so worried about flex wearing out as it is known to do on loaded dervish etc.. Will this problem come up?

Flexy boards will lose their liveliness after a while. I haven't heard of any cases where this isn't true...

If you're not getting Original trucks, there's not really any point in getting an Original deck.

Agreed. I'd get the Sojourn if you aren't planning on using Original trucks. Sojourn is a lovely ride.
