    Question Dervish or Dropcarve?

Hey I'm still kind of new to longboarding and I'm not quite sure if I should get a loaded dervish or LY dropcarve? I'm not sure if they're the same types of boards but it seems like they're about the same. I've tried the dervish from other ppl and I like it but yet to try the dropcarve.

    Thanks

dropcarve is also really flexy. youre thinking of the bamboo drop carve with the samurai graphic yeah? if so, it feels similar to a flex 2. if you want, you can always fiberglass the bottom to make it stiffer. besides, wouldnt a LY be cheaper than a loaded?

So they're about the same as style wise? I looked around and the price for a complete deck is about the same it's around like 230-250ish. So I'm not too sure on which one yet.

I was surprised at how flexy Landyachtz's bamboo drop carve is. It's super flexy! Plus, it's really wide compared to a Loaded Dervish...which has more of a "snappy" flex.

Try doing a Silverfish Search. There's lots of info on here comparing both boards.

Go for the Dropcarve! I started longboarding about a month ago and had the same comparison dropcarve vs. dervish couldnt end up trying the dervish so went to the landyachtz store and tryed numerous different models! The others were good but the dropcarve stood out, Now i can hit 50km with confidence and carve sharp. The drop speed was good to but the dropcarve is more versatile and lighter weight, you can slide, dh. carve pump! Everything just works. My setup is bear grizzly 852 (highly recommended!!!) Landyachtz 76 mm red monster hawgs. Im goin for some purple otang inheat in the next couple weeks tho. Im more into dh myself but its a great board cause i can commute and everything as well. cause i found that on the drop decks it didnt excellerate as fast but it was still ok. Never ridden a dervish but proabably a good board too. For some reason my dropcarve isnt as flexy as i thought because my friend has a battle axe and its a tad flexier than my board. Personally i like a little less flex cause i can do dh and be more stable while still getting the snappy rebound out of carves! Good Luck and have fun!

I love the flex on the dervish. IMO, the dervish flex blows the drop carve out of the water. I do like the camber of the dervish, and I don't like the drop carves 10" wide deck with little to no concave. I like the nose/tail more than that of the drop carve. So IMO, the dervish is a better board.

Dervish bro.... I am a big Landyachtz fan and still recommend the Dervish. I bought a Flex 2 to see what all the hype was about, and it immediately got me skating harder and trying new things. A lot of people say the Dervish is great but they complain that it's too narrow, but I think that is a great thing. Especially when you start pulling stand up slides and you wanna hang part of your foot off the deck because it's less movement to get into position (at least for me). I have size 10 1/2 shoes and it puts me right where I need to be for extra leverage. Carving on the Dervish is insane too. So easy and fluid. The Drop Carve is a nice deck and well made but the Dervish stole my heart.

    Question Re: Dervish or Dropcarve?

Where is there a Landyachtz store???? And so The Drop Carve is good for Downhills and parking garages? I have been doing research trying to answer that question because I want something that can carve sharp and stays stable at high speeds. I broke my elbow going 35mph on my board with loosened Sidewinder trucks.(not too smart on my part)

The Drop Carve would be just as stable as the Dervish. You can ride hills on either of them. There seems to be some misconception of what DH is considered or how it applies to these types of boards. Yes if you are riding down a hill you can consider it Down Hill because by all means you are riding down a hill. But what the majority consider DH riding is very often comprised of higher speed runs at 40+, not sub 35MPH speeds. So either of those boards are fine for anything sub 35mph, and if you feel confident, by all means go faster. I personally think 35mph is pretty fast to be riding a skateboard so I am more than happy on my Dervish for just about everything including some speed. The Drop Carve is similar in the way it rides. Loose trucks and soft bushings are great and add to the capabilities of the board. They make carving more fun, which is what these boards are made for. So I wouldn't look at the technology of the boards and think that you will be more stable just by the way they are made. Stability is about you, not the board.

I'd go for the drop carve. having ridden both I'd stick to my drop carve any day. imo the flex is way better than the dervish. The drop carve has a nice snappy flex to it while the dervish just "sags" like it doesnt give you rebound. if you dont like the width you can probly just sand it down or something.

Get your credit card out, go to both web sites and click "buy now". Fill out all the info you need to. Then put a photo of each on the wall and throw a dart. Which ever the dart lands closest to is the one you click "submit" on.

What do you weigh like 250lbs? That is one of the most inaccurate descriptions of Dervish flex I have heard since the newer ones came out. Mine has plenty of rebound and doesn't sag.

Completely agreed. I'd call my dervish's flex anything but saggy. (it's been 6 months of everyday riding.) I know eventually it will lose its pop. But every board will.

Lol, just realized i already posted on this a while ago with thoughts comparing the two..

Yeah, I hear that too. Mine is far from saggy and I'm 190lbs. Had mine for about 4 months.

Well i guess that explains it. I've only tried the older model. I guess they improved the newer model. Sorry about my inaacurate description.

The best board out; Loaded Dervish.

It is a must have in any quiver.

Perfect for freeride and learning to stand up slash.

Downside of this board is with the set up using cannot reach any speeds above say..... 45km/h.

I read somewhere that the new '09 dropcarve felt like a flex 2 dervish when they first released it, but then they changed it a bit to solve some wheelbite problems or something and the newer version was more like a dervish flex 0.

is that wrong? because a flex 0 dervish sounds pretty awesome to me.
