Switch vs. Hellcat Gun to Head
If I had a gun to your head and told you to choose one.....which one would you pick? BANG!
Planning on setting them up with Randal 180 42 baseplates.

Re: Switch vs. Hellcat Gun to Head
take the dudes gun, shoot him, steal his money and buy both boards. When your realize the hellcat is awesome, sell the switch. Go shoot some more people and buy maguns then ride around on your pimped out board.

Man I didn't really look into the avenger that board looks sweet. Gonna do some research on that deck now.
Guys, feel free to elaborate on these 3 decks, any insight will be useful.

Ones a drop deck. ones a drop through and the last is a topmount.
They all ride very different. Pick based on the ride you want.

I'm afraid I can't elaborate.
I'm a topmount/W concave whore and am extremely biased on the topics.

I love W concave also. What are the pros and cons of top mounts vs. drop thru or dropped down boards?

Topmounts are more responsive, and with the "Pleasure Dome" of the Avenger also making it more responsive, it sounds like the perfect board for me.
I love responsive boards.
Actually going to be getting an Avenger for Christmas, gonna set it up with some Indy's and some P'otangs. (I stole the idea from Jaxx, don't tell him.)
I'm sure it's gonna be ####### awesome.

Topmount VS. Dropthru VS. Dropdeck read away.
most of it has to do with grip, stability, and responsiveness and how they relate to the truck mounting.

Re: Switch vs. Hellcat Gun to Head
Topmount - grippy in corners. Some say better turning, i dunno the whole physics of it, but it feals like drop decks turn less that dropthroughs/topmounts.
drop deck - very drifty, easy to footbrake, less turn?
Even though drop decks are better for sliding, i find it easier to slide drop thoughs.
Topmounts are sexy.

its not that drop decks turn less, just that they turn differently. a neutral/flat truck mounting (read: not an evo) should yield the same turning results regardless of drop, top, drop through, or double drop.
what the bold part about? any deck can be a good slider, im running a topmount for free riding. its all about practice and technique.

Hellcat, hands down.

Re: Switch vs. Hellcat Gun to Head
First, all 3 have w cave.
Second, what do you plan on doing? Each of those decks has a different emphasis when it comes to riding style. The switch will be the most prone to drifting and therefor would make a good soft wheel slide deck when the Avenger will have more grip (and a more manageable wheelbase) and therefor would be more suited to racing DH. Lastly the hellcat is right in between.
That said get a dropspeed.

The Switch has W?
I just looked at the LY site and it never mentions the board having it.

LY Dropspeed? Do you mind elaborating?
Thanks for pointing out what you said in your post. Because I am looking for a board that will handle DH going 40mph but I will also like to free ride down a hill. Stand up 180s check slides wutevers. Ok so now I'm leaning towards the hellcat. I will keep weighing out my options.
Thanks a lot for the input guys. Keep sending input. I want your 2 cents!

theres a whole lot more to how a board performs than how you mount the trucks. K-rimes, Pat Switzer, and James Kelly all ride topmounts and are about predrifts and sliding. where Scoot and Mischo are on drop decks and railing turns. (thanks to i think blix for sharing that with me)
i have a topmount and ride it with indys, this thing is just as drifty as my buddies dropspeed.
you have to think of the total complete setup and decide how each component will make the whole board perform. i.e trucks, baseplate angles, wheels...

I am going to get Randals with 42 BP. And for wheels....I have a pair of Seismic Speed Vents 77mm that has only seen pavement twice. So I would like to use that for DH. For free riding I'm thinking about picking up some Abec11 Strikers.
Wutcha guys think?

Re: Switch vs. Hellcat Gun to Head
not bad. personally im not a fan of drop decks, other than a nemmy. so i say pick the hellcat or some other drop through. that way you can switch from drop to top mounting and really give yourself options to make a final decision on what you like.
if you want to rail your turns then top mount it, a little predrifting on the menu? drop it. mix and match and find what you like.
as for the strikers what duro are you thinking? i had them in the mid 80 range, i want to say 86a(?) but i cant remember exactly. they were sick but rode really harsh, so if you can get your hands on a softer duro than 86 i say go that direction. probably somewhere around 81-84a

Wow I didn't know I can top mount the Hellcat. What a nOOb huh? Just because of that reason I'm really leaning towards a HellCat now.
I got stimulus yotangs I can use for free ride also....I was just looking into a bigger free ride wheel. So many options out there.....Hawgs, obombers, Gravity Hi-Grades, Stimulus on and on .
Hey Snozz what's your wheel of choice when you go speedboarding.
