Bustin Sojourn or Loaded Pintail?
I'm looking for a carvy cruiser that can pull some tricks and is short enough to carry on an airplane. Iv'e narrowed it down to these two. Anyone had experience and any board or both?
-------------Bustin Strike - Bear Grizzly 852 - Bustin Bocas 81a-------------
---Sector 9 Rasta N8V - Gullwing Mission 1 - Sector 9 Top Shelf 78a---
--------Loaded Vanguard Flex 2 - Paris 180 - Gravity Hi Grade 83a--------

I love my loaded pintail! The pintail is a deck with lots of life. It's not the best at anything I don't think but its certainly has character.

Go with the Sojourn its wonderfully comfy, small and light. Also cheaper than loaded anything and you get to design it yourself.

Here's the low down on the sojourn v2... It's got 7 layers in stead of 8 like the strike, so it's got more flex... But not nearly as much flex as any of the loaded boards, which means you can still tighten things up and bomb hills if you want, even though it's a bit short for speeds, I've taken my sojourn over 40mph already and I just got it for my birthday mid October. I also have a strike, cigar, and complex, they all rock, but I personally wouldn't bother with the splif or cigar. The spliff is boring compared to the sojourn and the cigar is the same length as strike but it wheel bites like crazy, ask the scar on my arm about that. The strike and sv2 are sex on wheels and the complex is just the most comportable lazy fat board to chill and dance on in their line up. As far as set ups go, I kill my sojourn on crails with the bottom washer out with otang fat free (86a) with bones super 6, But I'm sure randals and some whatever wheels would be fine. Sometimes I put my 68mm lemon zigs on it for extra grip, it carves like a dream super reponsive. Bustin is easily one of the top 5 longboard companys out there and they have un-matched customer service, not to mention they're just a bunch of cool dudes. I say get a sojourn and evoke the stoke.

Well said sir. I own both a Strike and a Sv2
Strike vs Sojourn is an odd question because they are just so different in purpose. If you want a slide/freestyle/dh(30-40mph) deck I would go Strike because its stiff and stable.
In contrast the Sojourn has a comfy flex, lightweight, and wider foot space which makes it really really really nice for commute or cruising.
Both decks are great for carving in my opinion.
Well here is what I run on my Strike:
Randal2 trucks
Durians (I run both potangs and mangotangs depending on the run, I prefer mangos because I slide so much)
Red Elims for my bushings.
My Sojourn has been a little tricky to find a perfect setup for but I love what I have now:
Paris Trucks
Tunnel Blue Tarantulas (WHAT A FUN WHEEL! I'm surprised I don't hear more about these)
Purple Sabre Barrels (bouncy bouncy fun times indeed)

Re: Bustin Sojourn or Loaded Pintail?
They are very different and "pull some tricks" doesn't really narrow down your riding style. The Pintail is definitely a carver cruiser. Personally I think you should look further into boards as well as the kind of riding you will probably be doing. The sojourn does look like a very cool hybrid surf-style longboard that is very cheap. The one thing I would look out for is the front wedge. I personally dislike front wedge quite a bit, but I understand it's purpose. You should try some front wedge boards before you choose.
Other boards off the top of my head that you may like.
- LBL Salamander
- XVD Croc
- Loaded Tan Tien (Not quite out yet)
- 38" Kracked Skull Scimitar (Great for everything, but not super light)
- Mini Comet FSM
The FSM and the Scimitars are more freeride style boards.
Hope I could help

Re: Bustin Sojourn or Loaded Pintail?
I got a sojourn v2 setup with seismics. Really awesome board for flat land, It carves like crazy and is super fun, and I busted my first standup slide on it the other day purely by accident, and I have no experience with even coleman slides. Wouldn't recommend the seismics for downhill. However, this is suited for my riding style and nearby skatable terrain. My advice would be to pick a board based on how fast/grade of hill you intend to ride, so you don't end up with something that isnt safe, and just ask the fish for advice. The last thing you want to do is rush into a decision and end up regretting it big time.
