Default Sector 9 Star. Reviews, suggestion?

To start this off, ive already gone through the old threads but Im still curios if there are any current riders of the 9 Star?
Im seriously considering it for the fact that its speedy but can be adjusted for cruising and commuting.
Any persons out there who have ridden it and can say your thoughts of it?
    Thanks in advance

    Btw im 5'6'' 135lbs.

I'm 5'7.75" and roughly 150 lbs. and I ride the Sector 9 "9 Star." Frankly I love it. I use it for all three of the things you mentioned. Because it's a drop-through/mount deck, it makes pushing easier and the ride extremely stable at high speeds. The deck is really stiff though, and it should be because it's designed for speed but if you prefer more flex in your ride, don't buy a 9 Star. Because I'm in Manhattan I keep the trucks real loose with really gooey bushings for tight turns and better pump-action. Yeah. It's an amazing ride. Just remember it's really stiff. A very responsive board especially when it comes to carving and sliding. I rock Yellow Orangatang Durian's 75mm 86a duro. Very nice, predictable slides, very stable going downhill.

well, idk, im not really a speedboard but the 9 star is waaaaay to thin, and im 5'2 with a size 8 foot so listen to me. any stiff topmount can do what you want, even a stiff dropthrough, try a MM or a boomerang

Hey! Sorry for the late, LATE reply.

Um, my setup is as follows:

    Sector 9: 9 Star
    Gullwing Charger Trucks (stock)
Khiro Orange Bushings (very squishy, very surfy, very jelly) - this is what makes it fun
Sector 9 Wheels, 72mm 75A (very squishy, very surfy, very jelly) - I like a smooth ride

Being in the East Village in NY, it's hard to find really decent hills to bomb and EMPTY garages. I have however bombed pretty much ANYTHING I can find, primarily around the NYU campus area and it goes pretty damned fast. Even though my trucks are loose as a wizard's sleeve and I have gooey bushings and gooey wheels, it's incredibly stable going downhill. I've clocked 30-40 miles and it ownly wobbles if you're careless and if your footing is unstable. I've made a couple trips to Brooklyn and that's where I've been able to reach those speeds. It's fun dodging cars and people and bikes but can be very dangerous when not careful.

Freestyling with this board is a little difficult. The board is very stiff because of how it's built. The construction that makes it stiff also makes it a little heavy. It's responsive; very easy to slide in all manner of ways (this is how I get people's attention ) but doing flips with the board and those tricks where you pop it up and swing it around your arm then land on it is VERY hard. Manuals; nose and tail, are okay. I wouldn't recommend this as a freestyle board but for downhill, the 9 Star doesn't get the credit it deserves. I like it as a drop-through board though people tend to buy Rayne, Loaded, and all the other more popular brands available. But I like my 9 Star.

Virtually no wheel bite but that's because I'm running 70-75mm wheels. I going to try the humongous Abec 11 83mm flywheels (when I get the money that is).

Alright, I hope that helps you. Just respond again if you have any more questions. Remember, I haven't been boarding for a long time; just riding on the knowledge I've gained in the past 4 weeks and from what I've learned from this amazing forum. The search function has helped a lot but you won't know until you try things for yourself
