Re: Dervish, Eel, Eclipse
I have both the BC eel and the NS eclipse and this is what I can say
The eel will be better for sliding as it is drop thru and symmetrical, because it is low it will also help with pushing and commuting. It has a pretty good nose and tail and adequate foot space for a small amount of dancing.
The eclipse will be MUCH better for dancing and surprisingly it pumps very well for me. i have not slid the eclipse so much because it is so long and a pintail (not symmetrical)
The eel is a much better all round board but the eclipse will excel in dancing, board walking and cruising. So decide if you want to do more dancing or more sliding.
hope I helped, ask me anything you might want to know about these boards.

Re: Dervish, Eel, Eclipse
I have the Eclipse and the Dervish and I agree with Ryno the Eclipse dances, carves and pumps great. It also slides very well too. The Pintail puts your back foot in a great place to get grip for both toe and heel side slides without moving your foot. I think the long wheelbase makes sliding more controllable and smoother at first but, yes the drop through Dervish breaks it's wheels free a little easier.
The Eclipse is smoother for rough roads and mellow carving; just cruising big turns down a long, car less, sunset lit hill (I live for those moments ). The Dervish is snappier for carving, more aggressive for ripping hard carves that just get the wheels to break free a little.
I love both. The Dervish requires more skill to do the same basic dance moves on than the Eclipse, but the Derv has much more technical ability for doing No Comply or Shuv-it type tricks. It's lighter for all day riding and commuting which is why I grab the Derv more, I skate a lot of flat land and mellow hills. Hope it helps.

Re: Dervish, Eel, Eclipse
It's not the board that dictates a slide... it's the wheels and rider experience. I personally like the dervish, though I suggest an Eel.
