Bustin Sojourn Vs. Original Hybrid 35 Vs. ?
I'm thinking about a good commuter board, something with a little flex, something good to maybe learn tricks on, and I'm open to new suggestions, but these are the two I'm thinking about right now.

Element Natas, Indy 149, Powell 85a Bombers
Flexdex Fat Daddy, Randall 180, Yellow Fat Frees

Poolkings stringer

its a good commuter because you can ollie, kickflip, or boneless up curbs ( what ever your style is).
Its also cheaper then both those other decks.
Plus its good for tricks you'd be able to learn things like rock n roll, axles stalls/grinds, and disasters.

Ever met them? Ever skated with them? Ever been offered a drink and a ride by them? Did you honestly make an account just to tell bustin to go back to Maryland?

Re: Bustin Sojourn Vs. Original Hybrid 35 Vs. ?
MD would gladly take em back. Hagerstown is sorely missing them, though the economy blows here so I don't blame em.
Anyway.
I have a Hybrid 35 and I'm almost certain my next purchase will be a sojourn. The hybrid has NO FLEX. Mine got run over by an suv and it is still rock solid. It is kind of high, with pretty big risers, but on 8 inch trucks it can ride 75mm wheels which is alright by me! I really enjoy it for its short wheelbase and the turning on original trucks. The turning off the kick tail is a whole lot of fun and can carve pretty well within the space of a sidewalk.
I'm looking to get a sojourn for a lower flexier ride, something a bit pushier, also so I have a bushing alternative to my original board which I still love riding. I prefer bushings on transitions and ditches over original trucks in the same circumstance and sometimes I'm in a mood to ride one over the other.
I probably couldn't pick between the two but I can promise the hybrid is a good city get-around board and has plenty room and turn for skogging. I am pretty stoked about getting a sojourn (once I can afford it) so it's probably a win/win.

Well I can tell you mounting S6's on the Sojourn is going to be a huge pain in the ass with the how the nose and tail are wedged. If thats what you want to do with it I do not recommend it. Getting S8's on the Complex with similar wedging was a huge task for us. The trucks work fine once you do, but still totally not worth the effort.
I would recommend the Hybrid if you are already sold on the trucks. You will love the trucks, the are totally their own thing.

I like them both really I just like the 8s more because the turn isn't MUCH slower and they just feel heftier under me.

Quick question though, might be random, but do you recommend any 61/62mm wheels? My Nineballs don't work properly with the trucks.

The clear kryptonics that come with the trucks (when they're completes) seem pretty nice. They're 78a 62m. They seem to hold their ground, they're not so plush, they ride kidna stiff but they deliver. If you could fit fat frees I'd recommend them, just because the tang urethane seems to perform pretty well and ride surprisingly grippy. That wheel may be a tad too big though.
As for the kryptonics, they seem kind of hard for such a soft 'thane, but they're reliable wheels. I don't know where to buy em, but you might be abel to email original and work something out if you can't find a dealer.

Turns out I could mount the trucks with Original risers properly on there with a little drill , yeah I could fit the Otangs, I'm just barely getting wheelbite with Flashbacks.

A bunch of us from Rutgers recently had the chance of meeting some of the Bustin crew and they're a great bunch. And most of them skate through Brooklyn and other parts of NY on a daily basis so I wouldn't call them a poor reflection of the NY longboard community. At all.
