Comet FSM vs Rayne Hellcat
I am so confused on what board to get and also the best setup for the boards.
I want a super versatile board... one that can carve like crazy but still bomb a somewhat mild hill. Basically, I want a board that can do everything and these two boards seem like the best i could find. I am open to any suggestions and all info and opinions.
Thanks!

rayne hellcat for what you want

Re: Comet FSM vs Rayne Hellcat
^disagree.
The FSM will better due to the lack of W concave making pushing more pleasant as well as the twin tips. The nose/tail is better and the platform is still a nice size to hold your tuck in and is also stable as a rock.

Re: Comet FSM vs Rayne Hellcat
both work, the fsm is bidirectional there for more versatile, and if ur saying mild hills like under 30mph the fsm will be fine it really locks you in during slides too. for a set up if ur doinng more carving and slideing i would go with paris 180s or holeys with with some durians, for more bombing randals and big zigs or otangs..ect theres a plethora of wheels out there for you its all preference. the fsm is cut for 70mm wheels but you can ask for it to be cut for 75mm wheel clearance. so cults would be nice or some venom or plasma wheels if u get the the normal fsm

Re: Comet FSM vs Rayne Hellcat
I have a fsm and i love it. it is pretty stable ive tookin it up to 30 mph with bears and eliminator red and oarnge. and it slides really smooth and breaks free easily. with the bushings it crave amazing to.

Re: Comet FSM vs Rayne Hellcat
i would say the fsm, but i've seen a bunch snapping in the past couple weeks. not very good if you want a board that lasts. and the pleasure dome is great for freeriding and almost nonexistant in the front so its not too bad for pushing.

Rayne isn't exactly known for their QC either though

Re: Comet FSM vs Rayne Hellcat
Eh, the hellcat feels sturdier, the FSM has a lot of give to it and the rocker is just annoying. Both are good boards, but it comes down to what you want, and I'd rather have a hellcat, although I would never spend that much money on a hellcat.

yes i also have seen alot of snapping in the past but it all depends on your ride, and the plesure dome is just something to get used to, and if you dont like it i have seen alot of 08 hellcats for sale on the fourm, but the plesure dome is amazing when you get used to it

it's not that bad anymore. and i would rather take a misdrill and a year or two of riding that a couple months with a snapped board. when i got my fsm, it was solid with very little flex. after a month or two, it started to really flex and my rails were delamed from the board flipping once or twice on me.
or look into a clutch jailbait/cameltoe. great freeriding board. i would take one over the hellcat and fsm any day.

yea there also great boards, but the think is they have very agressive concave and it keeps you very locked in, so not the most confortable ride but it is a great fun board. also you have to think about what your priortiys are, stiff, flexy, bi directional, how much concave you want

Re: Comet FSM vs Rayne Hellcat
i havent ridden a hellcat, but my fsm is great for going sideways or mobbing hills under 30mph. the dramatic rocker concave gives you a boatload of leverage and it just wants to slide.

i havent ridden an fsm, but hellcats are ####### sick!!! try to get your hands on an 07-08 model, the W concave is just plain stupid

Okay lets work from the bottom up...
Sturdier. Okay we can do that.
Rocker is not annoying. You, are annoying, but okay, no rocker.
Both decks are nice that you chose. Can we find something combining them?
Symmetry is a concern? Okay we'll pick a symmetrical deck.
Both have somewhat moderate-deep radial concave. Okay.
What you want:
Fullbag Speedstyler.
Has the stiff feel of the Hellcat, and similar concave to both decks.
Symmetrical platform.
Great for freeriding, and can take a bit more speed than the FSM.
No rocker.
Awesome quality product with a totally sealed all maple construction deck and arborite bottom layer which protects the bottom from scratches and water.
Only $120 if you order from Motion Boardshop ($150 anywhere else.) And free shipping.
You're welcome.
Ohh.. The setup.
I'd run that deck with 10*/10* Cindrich Indy plates, and 215mm hangers with Purple InHeats, or Durians depending on how you plan to ride it.
If you aren't feeling the Precision plates (will make it wayyy more stable than traditional 17* Indy plates, or Core/Indy Hybrids,) Try out some Sabre trucks. They're relatively inexpensive and 45* pivot angles are going to give you a good amount of stability, drifty ride, and those trucks are innovative and unique.

Anyways anybody have good versatile setups?
I just posted some. Lol. I have an FSM if you want it. I may also have a Hellcat somewhere.
FSM is brand new and gripped.

Re: Comet FSM vs Rayne Hellcat
go for a clutch jailbait. great board, and the concave is perfect for freeriding.
