I second this. I'd take the Eel over the Swordfish, but that's just me. I like being lower to the ground and having more wheel options.

Re: Kracked Skulls M1 or S9?
Just want to note that I'm buying both swordfish and eel, but while the swordfish is available now, the eel has about another month +/- two weeks before its available to the public for order according to my last correspondence with BC. So end of Feb to mid March at the latest.

Re: Kracked Skulls M1 or S9?
My opinion:
Scimitar is awesome, but be careful of curbs - make some bumpers for it or something, if this is your first time on a board then you're going to smash the crap out of it on every curb you see for the first couple of days.
M1 is also awesome, and cheap. I'd buy an M1 for $120 before I'd buy a S9 any day, even if it was half the price.
In my experience, Kracked Skulls boards are pretty much the best for beginners - they're easy to ride, pretty sturdy, and they're stinkin cheap. The guy, Bob or whatever, is extremely nice, too. Any problems with your board and he'll do his best to fix them for you. Great company.
I've never been on an Eel or a Swordfish. Yet. I plan to, someday soon... just broke my home made dropthrough thing, looking at replacing it with an Eel.
But I have been on quite a few S9's. I think there's a reason the 'Fish doesn't have a section for them in the Board Reviews. Worst boards I've ever rode for the price. Not to say they were horrible, just... cheap feeling and icky. They're like one of those Chinese mock Ipods - you buy one that says 8gb, and it turns out to be 1gb, which isn't bad, but isn't 8gb either. They look good, but you ride them, and... they don't measure up to anything else that costs that much. KS is the opposite - you don't expect too much out of some guy's basement project, but they're just awesome. You won't be disappointed in KS.

2010 Insane Asylum III figure - Veloz V5 trucks, 80a IA wheels
46" Oak deck - no trucks wheels right now. ( :'( )
38" Campus board made from snowboard - Randal 180's, 70mm ebay wheels, crappy bushings. Still shreds like a blender.

Re: Kracked Skulls M1 or S9?
I fully support Kracked Skulls. If I hadn't found the Swordfish, I'd have bought the KS Scimitar first. I still might buy one as a third board. Plus my sister is getting an M1 soon for her 2nd board.

Blah, its only tax returns, you know when the government steals your money and hides it from you for a year. So after being unemployed for 18 months, I went back to school. Even more broke than before, but just not quite as depressed.

its a medium flex, its a rather dead flex which tends to feel more stable then say a dervish

Re: Kracked Skulls M1 or S9?
I've had a KSM1 up to about the mid thirties... wasn't as crazy as I thought it'd be, but I didn't wanna push it any further, either.
I have a bunch of skateboards
Isn't this what you're supposed to put in a signature?

Re: Kracked Skulls M1 or S9?
Both the swordfish and eel are awesome all-around boards. If you do more freeride than cruising and carving, then go for the eel. Otherwise, I'd go for the swordfish.

Scimitar for sure, it can fit bigger wheels. I'd only get 46" if you were really interested in dancing, but I'd recommend something around 40-42"
