Voodoo Doll vs Belly Racer
Hello. I'm trying to get a first DH longboard. I've narrowed down my options to two:
Voodoo Doll or the Belly Racer
Reasons:
Voodoo Doll:
Looks good, rides good, good company, 40$ shipping if bought on website. Although, I heard Comet boards lack sustainability. It delams easily. I don't know what would happen if it were to go head on with a curb.
Belly Racer:
Looks good, good company and cheap. I heard Earthwing boards lasts a long time. Yet, shipping is expensive.
which one you guys reckon is better?

ive ridden both. i gotta say im more partial to the belly racer. i like the concave more than the voodoo. also im not that big of a fan of rocker. also ive got an earthwing and all their boards are tanks. you cant break them if you try. the voodoo is also a really nice board.
I'm cool on Silverfish

the belly racer would be my choice as well.
huge wells (especially with ace 66 or indy 215 trucks), fat concave that's pretty comfy, and it's built like a freakin tank.

Re: Voodoo Doll vs Belly Racer
I have a voodoo og, not doll and I love my board. However, Im definitely considering the belly racer for my next dh board. I havent ridden any earthwings yet but from what I cant tell is they are top class and very durable. Personally, I have absolutely slammed the nose of my comet into walls and curbs, along side flipping my board plenty and Im actually impressed how well its held up; none of the structural integrity of this board has been sacrificed at all and I even got this board used so its really standing the test of time. I have yet to experience any delaminating problems but I would believe what they say about comet to be mostly true. You cannot go wrong with the voodoo one bit, with that being said I would actually say get the belly racer. It just seems more advanced and overall a more highly engineered board, but not downing comet, after all they paved the way for companies like earthwing.

Stevie, how long since you bought your Voodoo? I'm more towards the Belly Racer now. But I had a dream I was raping the roads with a Voodoo Doll O.O.. So I don't know.. :/

my voodoo doll is a tank, strong as ****. Love the rocker and the shape is RAD. Dont like the earthwng, dunno why just doesnt appeal.

Re: Voodoo Doll vs Belly Racer
I say Belly racer. But my opinion is that if your forking out the money for your first DH board your going to want something that will last and treat you well. Both EW and Comet make quality products (like really high quality) but i find that comet has more manufacturing errors, my voodoo doll came with a chunk missing from a ply in the wheel well.
If you want a board dont half ass it, youll never regret spending more money and enjoying a deck, as opposed to spending less money and not being happy with your decision

Re: Voodoo Doll vs Belly Racer
my vote is the belly racer. rocker concave hasnt always suited me best for dh. the concave on the belly racer is awesome for high speed though. if you havent ridden either, i suggest just get both. the price point for both combined is the same as buying one killswitch. buy it through a shop too. support skateshops! a lot of them have free shipping deals as well.
Carve Longboards - CARVE has some of the best pricing and cheapest shipping, and they have a brick and mortar store front as well. im not a big fan of online-only shops.

First board? They're both good. Flip a coin.

Re: Voodoo Doll vs Belly Racer
Sure guys. Thanks for the help. I'm going for the Belly Racer. I live in Malaysia. The exchange rate here is high. I don't mind paying for both boards but free shipping is out. Unless I've got those Jumper abilities T.T

This is kinda off topic, but how do the police in Malaysia react to longboarders?

real delam issues usually occur on the side of a board due to stress points in the concave or drops.
Delam at the tip is just you ram your board into a curb, pretty much any pointy shape board will flare out after a few good curb-smashes

Re: Voodoo Doll vs Belly Racer
Sorry took so long adam, but yeah I havent had my board more than a few months but I got it used and the guy who had it before me was a serious racer and I ride it literally everyday, plus Ive even used it for some long distance skating (but not the best for that) haha and trust me its a high mile board. Anyway the comet makes the most delicious rocker ever so if you like that do it, but Im sure the bellyracer's concave is sick too.
Hey can some one clear me up on radial concave though?

Radial is round rail to rail.
flat-cave is flat in the middle with up-rising rails.
then there is W-concave that defines itself by its name...its shaped like a W

Re: Voodoo Doll vs Belly Racer
I am also trying decide between these two decks. Can anybody comment on the weight of these two boards? From what ive heard the Comet uses a very light wood blend which might appeal to me more since i hate having to carry a heavy board.

people be settin dem up wid both trucks mane, i mean like evruy truck out there it mane you gotta belive dis ****. dat board rides wid more trucks in all positions den a muda****in hooker, thats wud it be. it be lookin meaner than a tired prostitute but trust me id ain't gonna bite, az long as u set dat boy up proper, ya dig?
