Bigger, softer bushings help with resposiveness too. The urethane helps fill in any "gaps" usually associated with the KP/hanger pivot area. If you feel you're too light for the Crail/Jimz combo, try some softer Eliminators. You might still lose a little lean, but you'll gain a little responsiveness.
Personal preference I guess. Some people still want the "surfier" feel....
would gluing the kingpin to the baseplate eliminate the jiggle? cause i can't find 0.001" shim stock that pigmoder suggested. i don't understand why the diameter for the kingpin hole seems to be a little bit bigger in crails than in randals though.
and yeah i slapped on some yellow elims on the bottom with barrels on top and it feels really good.

I am not sure what kind of tolerances kingpins have but regular bolts can vary quite
a bit. I have seen differences of .004 or more depending on the vendor.
You got me curious so I tore mine apart and used calipers to check some stuff.( I am a machinist with 15 years experience btw)
My stock Crail kingpin is right on .375", and the hole measures .380. Normal for US the hole would be .375 and the bolt would be smaller.
I have a hardware store 3/8-24 and it measures .370 which is pretty standard to be .003-
.005 under nominal size for bolts in USA. You can shim it like stated above, try to find a longer Crail kingpin, or have one custom made to fit tighter.
Edit: I took a sticker and wrapped around the hardware store bolt,(just one time with no overlap) and it still went in the base plate, it won't
hold up as good as shim stock but it should work for a while.

I use gorilla glue up around the bolt head and let them sit for about a day. Honestly, I think it helps a lot to have affixed KPs.
If you ever buy any of the Randal 28, 50 or 60 degree luge plates directly from Randal, you'll see they come with the KPs glued in.
Glad you like the Elims. I think they're a great do it all bushing.

I follow.....the Crail and Holey KPs seem to fit a bit tighter. Must be some non-SAE thing. Not sure on that.

Re: Post Your Crail Setup
Hey crail owners!
I just received a set today and it came with stock randal comp black bushings (88a)
I tried to throw in another barrel bushing, and a sabre cone, but they wouldn't fit.....how do you all fit your venom barrels and elims and such in their without changing the ride height? or is it just me?
when i put them in, it won't go into the bushing seat.
well I can't ride them anyways because no axle nuts and no kingpin nuts....
so yeah, any help would be appreciated.

Re: Post Your Crail Setup
Ok cool, thanks dude
i need to get me some axle nuts and kingpin nuts now lol
edit: I took off the hardware off of another setup to try out the crails. and jeez they are fantastic. I only rode them around really loose, and they carved like a dream. I'm gonna try to take them to speed as soon as i can.

Re: Post Your Crail Setup
getting them up to speed feels amazing. you cant tell how amazing they are by just putting and pushing around on them. 'Cept wardlarson uses him on his freeride setup????

setting bias' aside...
so.....people are saying that crails are better for DH on a topmount rather than dropthru?
I ride a hellcat, DH, and asked my gf for crails for xmas. If crails work better on a topmount, shouldn't I be sticking with randall/paris' for my dropthru hellcat? I already ride randals on my hellcat, and am a little turned off by the kingpin design of crails (allenwrench instead of hexagonal? i believe), not to mention they're $21 more. And I like the idea of swapping in 35 degree baseplates on the randals or being able to flip the hanger.
biases aside, should I go with crails or randals? I was set on crails before, and definitely believe they are amazing trucks, but they sound like they may be more worth it for a topmount, and not as worth the money for a dropthru
really leaning toward randals, so either sway me or dont

I moved my purple Sabres to my 42 Randals and put 90a/85a Paris barrels in my Crails. The Paris bushings are really stable and have a great return to center but I honestly miss the purple Sabres in there, they just worked so well. May have to see if the man in the red will hook me up with some more.

Re: Post Your Crail Setup
Crails never worked for me until this setup with a nemesis:
85a venom elims bottoms w cupped washer
85a venom barrel tops w flat washer
stable at speed but agile enough to do stand ups at low speed. Symmetry is nice for freeride too.
170 pounds.

is the cupped washer flipped??
i just switched to this setup almost exactly... im doing
sort of... im running the RED eliminator bottoms with flat washers
and then the yellow (85a) barrel tops with flat washers..
im sitting at 150lbs. i may try out the yellow elims soon though if i dont feel this setup..
NOTE: i absolutely hated the jimz w/ venom barrel combo.... the board felt like a dead stick..
so yeah, lemme know.. i was really concerned with putting a cupped washer on eliminators.. i felt like it might cut or dig into it.... but im scared that a flat washer might make the trucks a little stiff..

the cupped washers did cut into the eliminators i had on my crails.. i turned them into barrels... though it might just be a crappy pour because they did have air bubbles in them but yea... they cut into it......
