Bushings for Indy 215's
What kind of bushings would work best on Indy 215's for a setup that would be best suited for freeriding with focus on stand up sliding? If it helps, I'm looking to set this up on a Comet FSM.
I'm used to running blue/orange double barrels on Randal 180's, and I weigh 120 lbs (55kg). Just not sure if double barrels would work for Indy's, and furthermore if this would be good for stand up sliding.
Also, for whatever bushings you'd recommend, would I need to get longer kingpins?
Thanks in advance for the advice!

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
Hey man, stock indy's won't fit on the fsm unless you get it flush/top mounted.
next, your barrels won't fit the kingpin is too short and no, you can't put a longer kingpin in there (well actually you can, just involves some trickery... chuck it in the oven, heat that sucker up and then whack the fuck out of it with a hammer
next, yes that setup could be great... if it would fit.
if you want to use indy's on ur fsm dropped through you need to buy some core baseplates they work with 215 indy hangers. and you can replace the kingpin. you can buy this setup already made at milehighskates or you can do it yerself if you already have the indy's.

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
Bones Hardcore in soft or medium (yellow or blue) will be a good choice. They fit Indys great without having to change KP. Also try some Venom (supercarves) or Reflex in double conical combos in low to mid duros.

the venoms/reflex wouldn't fit would they?
what about 2 randal conical tops put together?

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
Stock Indy's will fit the FSM. Drill the stock baseplate to fit old school mounting.
I'm pretty sure Khiro barrels will fit Indy's with the stock kingpin. If you have them tiny khiro conicals lying around, you should use those with the barrels. Indy's tend to work better with a conical on top, ime. Barrels on top sort of get pinched.
For now, I run yellow venom barrel bottom red khiro short conical top on my Indy 169's with no kp modification.

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
hey guys, thanks for the help.
dr pepper, yeah I've read about the Indy's on the FSM, I'm going to have to redrill the mounting plates myself since MHM doesn't ship internationally. I've just really heard great stuff about the FSM, Indy 215 combo so trying to make it happen.
plus yeah, I know about how hard it is to change kingpins, I actually never changed the bushings on my Indy 169's for that very reason...which is why as much as possible I don't want to have to switch kingpins..
so transitioned...seconding dr peppers question...would the venom supercarves or reflexes fit without having to change kingpin? when you say reflex, you mean the abec 11 reflex bushings right?
oh, and one more question that i didnt consider...do I even need to change bushings in the first place, or are the stock indy 215 bushings good enough for what I want to do? (freeride, stand up sliding)

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
I'll be trying to fit Reflex short conical and tall barrel in a stock indy once I get them in. Hopefully they fit.
Pretty sure Venom supercarves won't fit since they're tall as Venom barrels.
Indy bushings are mediocre, in my opinion. But it's all personal preference. On a wide deck with a lot of leverage, you may be able to make them work.

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
IMO you've already got a project in itself with just figuring out a way to mount the trucks to the deck.
My reccommendation would be to go with a bushing set that will fit without having to mod the trucks. Bones hardcore bushings are a good fit for indys, the blues are somewhere between 85a and 88a in duro. They'll provide a good loose but stable ride for sliding. Good luck.

Iono, possibly. I've never used Bitch bushings.
Also, modding an Indy baseplate isn't hard at all. Kind of fun, actually. There're a few thread about it. No need to be intimidated.

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
thanks for the advice guys! all very helpful.
as of now, looks like the bones hardcores would be the safest way to go. I'll probably order some together with the trucks, just in case, then just see what works trying out my barrels, bitches, and those hardcores.
if anyone else got any thoughts, keep em coming!

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
i just put hardcores in the indys on my corchia and they feel great, i dont know if anyone mentioned it (didnt read the whole thread) but you dont need to use washers with the hardcore bushings (i still use a top one cause i feel safer with it) and i know when i tried to use two washers they wouldnt fit in the trucks so thought i'd let you know so you dont get worried if they dont fit with two washers

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
I've got three sets if 215s. I still run the orginal bushings on one board, so you should be ok for a bit. However,I get some25"-2.5" king pins in eventualy though. I really like to run Venom super carves w/ Indys. And the previous post was right about double barrles not working too well.

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
i have a yellow reflex barrel on the bottom and blue eliminator on top. its fantastic. i also replaced the kingpin though so that might be an issue. but if you can, try it!

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
I feel like the difficulty of changing the Indy kingpins is highly exaggerated. I used a medium weight hammer and had the kingpins out in two swings, without heating anything. Putting the replacement Paris kingpin in was just as easy. I've done two sets now, all of which were very easy. Maybe I'm just a beast, I don't know, it just wasn't difficult at all.

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
I had to change a indy kingpin because the thread was messed. I laid the truck over a crack on concrete and hammered that was easy.
A big bushing like venom or sabre bottom + small top bushing works well on stock kingpin.
I don't want to put a longer kingpin because small rocks or curbs could stop my board abruptly.

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
the khiro "standard barrel" bushings have the short barrel for the bottom and the tiny cone for the top and come in all 7 duros, for sliding go white orange or blue depending on how much you weigh/how gooey ya like em. you shouldn't need double barrels for standup slides, but if you wanna get a little downhill out of em, go ahead and swap the kingpin out and throw double barrels on em. p.s. i have no idea why everybodys scared of knurled kingpins, put your plates in a vise, and beat those tricks like they stole from ya, they pop right out.
support the sport! put out for the bum that lives on the board!

Re: Bushings for Indy 215's
I've been using Venom barrels boardside and Reflex short cones roadside on stock Aces. I love this setup, maybe it would work for Indys?
