I used to speed carve on dropped through 50/35 with soft bushings and loose trucks it was a comfortable setup but not as fun as dropped 15º/5º Cindy's also loose as hell (much looser than I have on Randals). I will say this though drop through Indy's and Cindy's have an odd stability about them that isn't present top mounted....No Indy's don't turn the same as Randals but that's the closest way to explain given the lack of knowledge most people have with dewedged Indy's. If you can find a better way to say it I'd love to hear it
Okay, a 15* Indy has a sweep that doesn't have the axle running in a straight line if you were to watch it's movement from the side. The lean to turn ratio changes the deeper you lean. Initially, for the very first instance the truck (15* Indy) has a turn per lean ratio that is like 1.2 meaning you get more than 1 degree of turn for every 1 degree of lean. Then in the middle of the lean, you're somewhere below a 1 say like .933. Then when you really dive all the way into it, at the deepest point of the lean you're something like .8 meaning you get little turn for how much you are leaning. That is why people experience the "Indy Dive" when they're not used to Indys. They're fun when you get used to them, but they don't turn anything like Randals or any similar geometry trucks..
hey guys, i've been running indys dropped thru on my dropspeed with 86A and 83A reflex barrels. I've been using this mostly for freeride and light dh (around 30mph). There were just a few things i wanted to know.
Would dewedging the rear by about 7* increase traction?
If i did decide to just run them without any dewedging for dh, how would this bushing setup sound? (i weigh 125)
Red venom elims bottom and an 86A reflex barrel on top (same bushing setup front and back)
and if there were any other tips you could give me to help with stability and traction without dropping alot of $$$.
this post probably doesn't belong here since i don't actually want to buy cindy plates but i figured that you guys knew your sh!t

Again find a better way to describe it to someone who doesn't have a clue about Indy's and I will gladly use it. I understand what you are saying and I agree. Like many of the old timers who are stoked on Cindy's I have many many years (27 or so) playing on Indy's I really don't feel the dive.

Yeah that would def. help with initial traction, just like any split angle truck setup. It'll grip longer, but when it decides to go....it'll break out a lot harder.
I don't usually give out bushing advice, but what you mentioned there seems like it would work. (at least I could make it work)

would the breaking out be alot harder? because one of the things i like about indys is that they drift so controllably. and yeah, i just need a more restrictive setup because mine are usually ridiculously leany and they get abit sketch when going faster.

I always thought Indy's slid well but I personally never drifted well until started dewedging them. Then I bought Cindy's and drifting became something I really understood.

Thanks a lot guys...
This data was helpfull!
I dont have the cash now to go for a variety of plates, and so im reduced to 2 only...
And im gonna go for double 5 plates...split angles is not my thing!
I want to get an extra lean, because thats the way i feel better turning..
I had considered higher degress plates, but since this is not for a freeride setup, its gonna for a DH Time Machine, im gonna go with 5...

I think you understood me. When i said "break out a lot harder" I mean it's going to grip longer, and when it does break free, it will do so more with more purpose (there's a couple of reasons for this, which you probably already know)

I brought these to Canada this weekend and people were flipping out over them. I was the only person at the outlaw on Indys and they read my review on OLF and were dying to try them. Of course I let anyone who wanted to try them give them a go, and many people loved them! One dude was thinking about ditching his Kahas for some. Anyways, I thought I'd post some pictures of me racing on them because I'm pretentious like that and I love these trucks sofa king much.
More or less, I sent the board to Mercado to chop into the Madrid 2010 Prototype and I wedged the front 10º to 12º and the back 0º to 5º. I like it better for slower stuff like that. It's a rad setup. I couldn't be happier. I can go from running InHeats to Smokers to Road Rages without having to change anything other than wheels.

i got my indy dh plates a few days ago and these are some crazy trucks. i got the 5 degree plates all around and i wedged them to 15, and they are so damn stable and turney. i have a red venom top and a green sabre bottom. it's so carvy and stable at the same time. the rebound is unbeleivable. these made my avenger the way i've always wanted a topmount to feel.

why did you buy 5º plates and then shuv wedges under them to RAISE the board up to 15º (2 steeper than stock) when you could have bought 15º plates and been LOW????????

I didn't say anything about dropped, I was referring to the fact that you put wedged risers under them negating pretty much all the advantages of them over cores or stock plates.

i'm probably gona keep the back at 5 for now, but i might save up for a set of 15* plates so i'll have 15/5
