    Default Paris claim over randal

Found this on Daddies Board Shop in the Paris 180 truck description

"The main difference between these longboard trucks and Randal's is that Paris trucks are cast in a centrifugal casting machine. What you get is a greater molecularly bonded casting, giving you fewer defects and greater durability, stronger baseplate, stronger hanger, more piece of mind when tearing downhill at 50MPH. "

    Is this true?
Purely a question, it's not to fight over which trucks are better.

meh... I've seen them both break when slammed into curbs.

Also, a lot of retailers just cut and paste promotional copy from the manufacturer to their website product page for that particular part.

Any truck is only as strong as the weakest part/component. A strong casting is good, but if you have weak axles or kingpins (for example), the benefit is somewhat canceled out.

If your drummer sucks monkey balls, then your band is only as good as the worst person. so Mark is actually right.

i express skepticism at the statement of "greater molecularly bonded casting", and would say with a good amount of certainty that that's pure marketing mumbo jumbo trying to toss around fancy scientific words.

but will say that a better casting method will result in few defects in the metal itself and lend itself towards a stronger hanger/baseplate.

as to how it compares to randal, that is unknown, since i do not know randal's casting methods.

you know what wouldbe rad tho? Some student in a materials science lab can somehow buy 20-30 sets of each of the main trucks (randal, paris, crail, bear), and conduct tests on every one of the trucks to detemine the material properties of the axles, hangers, baseplates. So that way we could get some actual meaningful statistical data on truck strength, durability, etc, and thus not only the various manufacters could used this openly published data to improve their products, but also the consumer would have a CONCRETE way of judging which truck is better (mechanically). just a pipe dream tho...

i prefer american made trucks that arent selling out because adam colton put his signature on them. it all depends on what you like really, i like randal because they have the same carving ability of paris and can also keep from being twitchy at higher speeds. while i cant take paris past 30. also they have different baseplate options, 50, 42, 35, while paris only has 50? ?

I love Randal trucks, dont get me wrong. But for some reason, I can take my deck with Paris trucks set SUPER loose down a twitchy 30mph road with no wobble, yet I wobble out on my 42* randal trucks on the same setup somewhat loose. I have no idea why. I have noticed that the pivot point cast quality on Paris trucks is more "round"/perfect than that of Randal trucks. The pivot point casting on tracker fastrack trucks is absolute garbage compared to these two companies.

Speaking of which, I have a set of tracker fastracks for sale, used once

I've tried flipped hangars on my Randal R2's, it lowered the caster angle by a little bit. Then i noticed when i was setting up my brothers board with Paris 180's i flipped the hangars just for sh*ts and gigs and wow did it change the caster angle significantly more than my Randys!
That's a big difference i found between the two trucks that i once thought were too similar to notice.
The other difference i noticed was the size of the pivot cups. It seems to me that Randals can handle more friction, (thus more consistent turns), over a truck like Paris with a smaller pivot cup.
