Default Trouble with bushings on Randals

So i just got my randal 180's 50 degrees. I had two red venom barrels (90a) laying around so i set those up road side with the tall cone stock randal bushings board side. It was a struggle getting the kingpin nut back on and i had to tighten them a lot to get the trucks somewhat stable for moderate DH. When i undid the nut, the stock randal cones had sustained heavy tear and were out of shape from the washers. I flipped them but im afraid of the same thing. What should i do? Longer kingpins? larger washers? Im extremely worried cuz im waiting for a set of 93a venom barrals to arrive and they are even bigger.

    flat washers should help,
but you may have them TO tight, and thats deforming your bushings

I had the same problem. It was solved by getting larger washers and a longer kingpin. Most people recommend 2.75", but I could only get 3" from ace hardware. Also, make sure you get grade 8. I called up randal and they said that the grade 5 would weaken over time.

A longer kingpin will solve most of your issues.

2.75 is best but 3" works fine.
3/8" fine thread grade 8 from the local hardware store is good. Soap shavings in the pivot cups and 5/16" flat washers.

If you have the threads facing the board, you won't have any issues.

I run my 3" kingpins flipped (threads toward pavement) and have had no issues.

If you are ordering parts online get the 2.75 and add it to your order, but I don't think its worth it to just order kingpins alone online.
