    Default Gullwing sidewinders or chargers??

I am ready to upgrade my 41.5 longboard from the stock gear it i bought it with, but i dont know which trucks to buy(or wheels or bearings but that isnt meant for this section). So i ride a pretty big board now and i am cutting to rid myself of wheel bite. i dont bomb monster hills, but i love carving. Any advice is will be gladly accepted. Thanks!

    niether.

gullwings are poorly cast, made in china, come with awful stock bushings, and are generally wayyyy too high off the ground, especially sidewinders. you can get much better trucks for the price, check out paris, or randal.

Thumbs up Re: Gullwing sidewinders or chargers??

i would recomend the sidewinders. feel great for deep carves. easily do high speed carving on them if you feel comfortable. yea.. there isnt anything wrong with them. its not like people snap them on a consistent basis.. and there isnt anything wrong with the stock bushings either.. well not like ANY truck comes with the perfect bushings anyways

edit:: oh and if they're too high off the ground.. well thats just cause your're a pussy..

ever ride sidewinders 20+ miles in a day? your thigh aches horribly after the first ten, especially if your board has camber, i snapped the kingpin on mine while doing coleman. and my friend has a bent axel. seriously, go with randal

so if i am looking at randals which kind do i get, i ride a 41.5" board and it is really wide. i am definitly cutting due to wheel bite. annnd i dont know that much about the trucks themselves looking at the website i have no idea which to buy. i ride a lot and at least 2-3 miles a day on average. it is mostly flatland with a few nice big hill here and there.

Gullwing? Pfft. Get some Randals or Paris. Easily the best trucks around.
But if i had to choose between those two, I'd go for the chargers, they're a lot lower to the ground which i personally like as it feels more stable. But if you get them get new bushings straight away the stock ones are terrible.

    paris or randal 180's.

if you're worried about wheelbite than even thinking about gullwings is a mistake. there's a reason sector nines come with 62mm wheels or smaller.

personally, i like my grizzlies over my randals, but with those you either love 'em or hate em.

Ughhhh Im one of those weird people that don't like randals or grizzlies >< I been running smokeys so long I feel spoiled xD randals were the first trucks I bombed 40+ (mph). And grizzlies were my first set of trucks. So I have a fair amount of experience with both. Drop thru grizzles. Top mount randals that's how I do

man, if this kid was looking at chargers and sidewinders, smokies would just blow his mind. i agree with you on top mounting randals and dropping through grizzlies, but now that cnc's in the picture i say dropthrough munkae's, topmount jims, and kahas all across the board.

Dont get gullwing trucks you will be very sad that you got them(also the sidewinders dont have that big of a hanger so you might get wheelbite with those trucks). For carving randals or paris.

Sidewinders! I have 6 boards all different setups, RII, Chargers, Grizzlys, Darts. I've ride all of them, if you want to carve, there is no debate. My favorite board is my Dervish with Sidewinders. If you have the urge to bash that set up, try it first, you will shoot in your pants.
