You can do though. Squish is a feeling like marshmallows. Rebound is seperate to that. You can have awesome squish and rebound, it's called sabre bushings.

Here's something I've been discussing with my crew. What do you think is more stable, softer bigger barrels such as JimZ (82.5A and 85A) or harder smaller barrels like Venoms (90A and 93A)?

Both may be equally 'stable' in a straight line, but a soft big bushing will keep you more nimble allowing you to turn quicker than a cranked down hard bushing. This is important going round corners and when doing pendys to slow down and stuff. My favourite at the moment is a soft barrel like a Sabre and just getting more badass. stability is in the mind.

I'm thinking about buying some bushings now.Gonna retire my stock Randals..I want barrel bushings, soft bottom/hard top,dor DH like you said before.I want some Venoms or some Sabres..But I don't want anything too soft/hard for my weight (127lbs).

If anyone can help with a nice combination of those bushings with a nice duro (Not too hard/soft),I'd appreciate. Thanks!

I weigh about 140lbs and tend to enjoy the 80a-90a range... I find myself sticking to the 85-90s lately. Depends on the set up. For reference:

    Lime Reflex (80a)
    Orange Venom (81a)
    Lemon Reflex (83a)
    Blue Khiro (85a)
    Yellow Venoms (85a)

I think you should include hourglass as a standard bushing shape. As it is offered by both Tracker in their racetracks as well as Holey trucks.

I'm almost sure I'm gonna stick to Eliminators! Red (90a) top and Orange (81a) bottom. Wow man, they're pretty expensive,20 bucks in DBS. (Enough for two trucks)

I've some question about bushing setup. I'm something like 140lb and planning to upgrade the pumpkin bushing on my nemesis I use for freeride carving+drifting. do you think that F-Type Sabre will fit into my Bear 852 or I'll have to change the kingpin? and should I go F allround or a combo with the R on bottom? I know I should try for myself what best fits my riding style but where I live is not very easy to get bushings and any advise would be much appreciated.

At 127lbs, I'd go softer than that. I'm about 200lbs and like the yellow bottom, orange top for a stable yet carvy ride, so with your ligher weight it should be good for DH. Softer is always better if you can handle it.

The Sabres will fit, but as they are taller than the standard khiros or pumpkins you need to run no bottom washer. At 200lbs, I put green bottom and purple top in a topmount deck for freeride/carvy and it was RAD. So at 140lbs you should go all purple, it'll be turny bouncy funtimes! Perfect for freerides and driftin.

Yeah, softer huh? What about Blue (78a) bottom and Yellow (85a) / Red (90a) top? I guess that's soft enough,Orange top would be a too soft for a top bushing.

Generally the bottom bushing is the harder of the two when you use different duros. The bottom is the bushing closest to the deck, the top is the bushing closest to the road.

I know, but gavmck said in one of his posts that Soft Bottom/Hard Top is good for DH because the people who used it said that they could stick lines slightly in this combo.Anyway,I can change it to Hard Top/Soft Bottom anytime if I want.

Yeah switch it up, see what you like! I've only HEARD that mind you, personally I ride a hard bottom, soft top for a stable, yet turny ride. The soft bottom hard top combo will give you a surfier middle with a good return to center. Fun to experiment though with bushings eh? I reckon you don't want to split the duro too much either, try to just go one up or down each way as otherwise only one bushing will really deform in the turn and it makes it feel a bit weird (for me anyways)

any barrels are great in indys. what are you using it for? for carving get something in the 85a range for dh 90a maybe 93a.

eliminators make indys lean soooooo much, which is great for freeriding but the lack of turning is poor for dh in my opinion.
TINKERING WITH YOUR SETUP IS HALF THE FUN OF BOARDING.

So, I have some Crails 160mm and it used to have some crappy plastic 90a bushings. The turning was ok, but when I change for some reflex double barrel 80a top/86a bottom I was able to do U turns within 3feet if there was no wheelbite, but there was haha
So I put some 83 top and a cupped washer on the bottom and it was awesome. Very turny yet very stable, and for reference I just weight 45kg (100lbs?)

This is one of the best write ups on silverfish. If you are getting bored with your board and haven't messed with bushings read this and then act on what you have read. it will turn your board from a piece of wood with trucks and wheels to something that is energetic and more fun to ride.
