This thread gets my LDP/Flatland board all excited. And then it gets my slaloming hopes alive. And then i want to buy Cindrich products.

this is the vite baseplate, shown in front of the a bennet stacked on 14* of wedges
the height of the vite makes running 70mm wheels possible without risers and the soon to come LDP version will no doubt be higher still

If everyone thought like me, I'd be fool to think otherwise.

Probably skill/style based like most things in the game of skate. Wish I had more time to experiment and find out.
I remember when that 5-10* talk came up a couple years ago because I've had to explain the 15+7 degree wedges on LDPs for quite a while. What slalom guys forget is that unless they're skating a flat cyber course, they're benefitting from a lot more gravity than the LDP guys skating over flatland for miles and miles. We typically need extra wedging / extra front turn since we have to generate most or all of our own "gravity" -- pretty simple concept but unless you're out there clocking the miles, the extra wedging is still a hard thing to grok.

The trick with these setups is learning to feel stable down hills on a truck that's wedged to be turnier. When you do come across bigger hills (~35mph) you get a lot better at maintaining an edge and not wobbling out. I haven't eaten it that way since I was a kid, but I could see noobs not really knowing the feel of a loose/turny setup throwing it down a hill and having an asphalt sandwich.

    In other developments...

The Vite LDP testing and tweaking is well underway-- especially since the NW finally had a chunk of dry weather. Widening out the hangar to just under 5" was the last tweak and it worked out really well. It's awesome to be able to mount the truck to the board with just a shock pad, short hardware, run 75mm's and get no bite. Deck height is still under 4.5", lower than most LDPs running the bigger wheels.

What struck me from the beginning is the smooth, surfy motion of this truck is phenomenal, like wakeboarding on glass instead of chop.

These are just testing notes on my forum so far, the Vite deserves a "review" thread soon but since its LDP I want to put it through more mileage before that.

Scratch that, I had a little mishap with the program and had to run home and redo a few things. They are in the machine now as I type.
